Recalls, owner-reported complaints, investigations and safety data

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Safety recallsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

InvestigationsNHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
0
Crash or fire reportedComplaints whose submitter recorded that a crash or a fire occurred. These are the reporter's own answers on the NHTSA form, not verified findings.

Tire pressure monitoring system displays fault at random intervals while vehicle is in motion, primarily associated with the rear axle but affecting all six tires on the vehicle. Tires are not damaged and no indication of rapid deflation or other defect is present. Problem is intermittent but typically appears after approx. 20-35 miles of driving and lasts for random interval, after which problem self-corrects. The process repeats without warning. Vehicle has been inspected by multiple factory authorized service providers, chassis manufacturer blames problem on coach builder, coach builder is non-responsive despite multiple attempts to contact via phone. Vehicle has been in for service on this specific problem three times, no solution. Safety is at risk due to faulty information and lack of awareness of tire pressures on all wheels, also cannot disable system. Problem first occurred with less than 2000 miles on odometer, has been present intermittently since then. Tire sensors have been replaced, issue remains. Problem confirmed via photo evidence and acknowledged as a known issue by local Ford dealer service rep Brian on 3 July 2023. Additional details are for most recent iteration of problem.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; EQUIPMENT:APPLIANCE:REFRIGERATOR

According to a Furrion TSB "TB-220919": Irregular cooling performance has been reported on the identified refrigerators. The refrigerator compressor has been found to stop working and requires a “hard reset” by disconnecting power to reset cooling operation. On occasion, disconnecting power does not reset operation and the refrigerator requires service replacement of the control boards. This TSB may not be applicable for some vehicles.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE; STRUCTURE

According to Ford Motor Company Recall 22V925: On your vehicle, the paint on your fuel tank may not have adhered properly and may peel. Extended peeling may expose the metal on the fuel tank and lead to long-term corrosion. Over time, corrosion in certain areas of the fuel tank may ultimately progress to a fuel vapor leak or a liquid fuel leak. If a fuel leak occurs due to corrosion, a malfunction indicator lamp may illuminate, or a fuel odor or liquid fuel may be observed. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. This is the final notification received from Ford.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; TIRES

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), on some Ford E450 chassis may experience intermittent loss of signal at one of the wheels and display a fault on the information center of the dashboard. This fault should clear itself through normal operation of the vehicle. However, should the concern repeat, this document is produced as a dealer aid for customer satisfaction is wanted.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE

According to Ford Motor Company Recall 22V925 “On your vehicle, the paint on your fuel tank may not have adhered properly and may peel. Extended peeling may expose the metal on the fuel tank and lead to long-term corrosion. Ford Motor Company is working closely with its suppliers to produce parts for this repair. When parts become available Ford Motor Company will notify you via mail to schedule a service appointment with your dealer for repairs to be completed free of charge (parts and labor).”

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
