2005 Forest River Tsunami Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2005 Forest River Tsunami, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

DT: WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER HAD A BLOWOUT AT 55 MPH ON TURNPIKE. THIS HAPPENED ON THE LEFT REAR WHEEL TIRE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE MOTORHOME. TOOK THE TIRE TO A GOODYEAR DEALER, WHO SAID CONSUMER WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE, AND THEY WOULD TAKE THE BLOWN OUT TIRE AND SEND IT TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR INSPECTION BY AN ENGINEER. IF THERE WAS A DEFECT THEY WOULD REIMBURSE CONSUMER. THE CONSUMER DECIDED TO TAKE TIRE TO DEALER FROM WHERE RV WAS PURCHASED, AND THE DEALER REPLACED TIRE FREE OF CHARGE. LATER AT HOME, CONSUMER NOTED A BUBBLE/BLISTER ON THE LEFT FRONT INSIDE TIRE, AND RETURNED TO DEALER, WHO AGAIN REPLACED TIRE. HOWEVER, CONSUMER WAS FEARFUL THIS MAY HAPPEN AGAIN CONSIDERING THE REMAINING TIRES ARE THE SAME BRAND. THESE 2 FAILURES OCCURRED WHEN THE TIRES HAD ABOUT 200 MILES ON THEM. 1993, GOODYEAR G670 RV UNISTEEL, TIRE SIZE IS 245/70/R19.5, THIS OCCURRED ON A FOREST RIVER INC, MODEL : GEORGETOWN RV MOTORHOME. *AK
