The defect: Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2020-2025 Freightliner eCascadia and 2022-2026 Freightliner eM2 trucks. The electric vehicle power distribution module (EVDM) may not be assembled properly, which can cause electrical circuits to disconnect and result in a loss of drive power.
The risk: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair or replace the EVDM as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 20, 2025. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is F1017.

The defect: Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Freightliner eCascadia vehicles. The e-axle planetary gear set may not be welded properly, which can cause the e-motor to detach from the final drive, resulting in an undetectable and sudden loss of drive power without the ability to restart the vehicle.
The risk: An undetectable and sudden loss of drive power can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the e-axle(s) as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 13, 2023. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL979.

The defect: Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) is recalling certain 2023-2024 Freightliner eCascadia vehicles. The service brake system may incorrectly calculate the vehicle mass, which can impair the electronic stability control system performance. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 136, "Electronic Stability Control Systems on Heavy Vehicles."
The risk: An impaired electronic stability control program may have a delayed response or insufficient braking force when activated, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will update the ABS controller software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 23, 2023. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL978.

EVDM connector plate separation

The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened this Preliminary Evaluation (PE) on November 6, 2024, to investigate Electric Vehicle Distribution Module (EVDM) connector plate separation on model year (MY) 2020-2025 Freightliner eCascadia and MY2022-2025 Freightliner eM2 electric trucks. The EVDM connector plate contains multiple safety-related circuits including Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), stability control and vehicle protective mechanisms to de-energize the high-voltage propulsion system. In January 2025, prior to Daimler Truck North America's (DTNA) final response to ODI's Information Request (IR) letter, DTNA conducted controlled testing of the EVDM. The final test results demonstrated that in certain circumstances of EVDM separation, the vehicle may lose motive power without prior warning to the driver. Based on the EVDM testing results, DTNA filed a recall (NHTSA ID 25V-046). This recall covers MY2020-2025 Freightliner eCascadia and MY2022-2026 Freightliner eM2 electric trucks. These vehicles will have the EVDM replaced if the plate shows separation from the housing. The recall chronology identified that DTNA had received nine warranty claims and six field reports for this issue. This Preliminary Evaluation has been closed as a result of the manufacturer filing recall 25V-046. The Agency reserves the right to take additional action if warranted by future circumstances.
