2008 Freightliner Sprinter 2500 Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

REAR LEAF SPRINGS RETAINING PIN SHEARED OFF AND SPRINGS SHIFTED FORWARD AND AXLE ROTATED CAUSING DANGEROUS SITUATION. FREIGHTLINER DEALER CONSIDERED IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ESP WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND DEALER REPLACED STEERING ANGLE SENSOR WHICH DID NOT SOLVE PROBLEM. THEY THEN FOUND SHEARED PIN AND SPRINGS SHIFTED THREE INCHES. SAID UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE NOW FOUND OTHER SIMILAR REPORTS. THIS PROBLEM WARRANTS AN OFFICIAL RECALL.
