The defect: DAIMLER TRUCKS RECALLED 1 MY 2009 FREIGHTLINER CUSTOM CHASSIS X-LINE MOTOR HOME CHASSIS EQUIPPED WITH BENDIX FRONT AIR DISC BRAKES. THE FRONT AIR DISC BRAKES MAY HAVE BEEN CONTAMINATED WITH GREASE BETWEEN THE PISTON HEAD/PLATE AND THE DIAPHRAGM. WHEN BRAKING PRESSURE IS APPLIED, THE GREASE MAY ALLOW THE PISTON HEAD/PLATE TO SLIP OFF CENTER AND CATCH ON THE REDUCING RING OF THE SERVICE CHAMBER.
The risk: THE CATCHING OF THE PISTON HEAD/PLATE ON THE REDUCING RING MAY LOCK UP THE CORRESPONDING FRONT AIR DISC BRAKE WHICH MAY IMPACT THE OPERATOR'S ABILITY TO STEER OR CONTROL THE VEHICLE.
The remedy: DEALERS REPLACED BOTH FRONT AIR DISC BRAKES SERVICE CHAMBERS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ON SEPTEMBER 5, 2008. NO FURTHER ACTION IS REQUIRED ON THIS RECALL.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FREIGHTLINER X LINE MOTORHOME(NA). THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED THE DEALER WHEN HE RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE # 09V056000, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM BATTERY, CABLES. HE WAS ADVISED THAT HIS APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER OF 2009; HOWEVER, IN SEPTEMBER HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE RECALL WAS NO LONGER BEING HONORED SINCE ANOTHER COMPANY PURCHASED THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,903.
