My tracking number assigned by NHTSA for this issue is XXX. I am adding additional pdf.s to this original safety On page 4 of 8, the attachment MIP from Genesis on HHI does not provide a reason for this concern: High Pressure Fuel Pump With Seal Cam Lobe Bucket HPFP Bolts Fuel Rail Pipe Intake Manifold Gasket Throttle Body Gasket Item Description: Speak with your service advisor for more information on this recommended service. Reason: Left blank Service Advisors' texts attached: 1, 2, and 3 from [XXX] of Genesis/[XXX] of HHI: The dealership’s verbal assessment was that the fuel pump area bolts sheared off due to "outside work" or "over-tightening, I asked for photos to provide visual, metallurgical proof of tool marks or cross-threading to back up that claim, and [XXX] verbally stated they had submitted those to Genesis. I never received the photos. The last attachment (Diagnostic Check). **RESPONSE to dealerships' speculation: ** Under Federal Recall 033G (NHTSA Campaign 26V229000), which directly involves the failure of fuel system retention fasteners, the Insufficient torque on the stabilizer bolts is prone to a bolt backing out even a fraction of an inch; the fuel assembly begins to vibrate violently against it. This creates immense lateral (sideways) fatigue stress on the bolt threads. Eventually, under that continuous vibration and stress, the metal fatigues and shears (snaps) completely off. [XXX] - GMA Case Management - [XXX] assigned me Case #XXX. Provide all requests for completion and docs. An inspection is to take place. Subject: Vehicle Safety Incident Report – Fuel Pump Disconnection and Oil Leak To: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Date: July 27, 2026 I am submitting this report to detail a recent vehicle malfunction that posed significant risks to my safety and that of others on the road. While driving to work, I experienced a situation where my vehicle was unable to shift gears properly or accelerate as expected. This loss of acceleration and responsiveness created substantial control problems, making it difficult to maneuver safely in traffic. Notably, no dashboard warning lights were illuminated at the time, which gave me the false impression that the vehicle was operating correctly. Initially, I perceived a dragging sensation in the car, which I believed was manageable. However, the situation quickly escalated when I observed smoke coming from the vehicle. The presence of smoke not only impaired my visibility but also posed a serious risk of fire or engine failure. The danger was heightened as I attempted to drive uphill; the car struggled even more, increasing the potential for an accident or collision due to impaired maneuverability. Following this incident, I had my vehicle towed to an auto repair shop for a diagnostic check. The diagnostic report revealed that the fuel pump was not attached to anything and that oil was leaking into the pan. These findings confirm that the issues were real and not just perceived. The disconnected fuel pump and oil leak represent systemic failures, which could have had catastrophic consequences if not addressed promptly. In conclusion, this experience highlighted grave risks to both personal and public safety. I urge vehicle manufacturers and regulatory bodies to prioritize detecting and preventing such malfunctions.

Hello [XXX], I was wondering are you handling the case against Hyundai/Genesis. I own a 2022 GV70 43K on it, took it to the dealer on 7/24/26 photos on file at the dealer in Dublin, Ca. Got home in the evening, and parked my car in my garage, then left the next evening 7/25/26 to a wedding got home late, 7/26/26 drove my card to get a bite to eat and seen this, (see photos) I reviewed on line and this a known issue with Hyundai/Genesis a well documented factory defect. That the paint just lifts off due to no being cured properly. That it prematurely oxidizes and weakens and peels off, mine is not oxidized but it just has peeled straight off the hood. This is like toyota white tacoma Trucks issues, with paint. Are you handling this and where do I get in on the claim or start one? for a 60K vehicle this is unacceptable. I also have a video. My# is [XXX] if you need to reach out. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The vehicle has experienced a pattern of recurring electrical failures beginning shortly after purchase, involving driver door controls (window, lock, mirror, and interior lighting functions), which have required four separate repair attempts over approximately three years, including replacement of a door module, a wiring harness, and a door switch assembly. Despite these repairs, the same driver door electrical failure has recurred multiple times. The vehicle has also experienced a seat memory module failure (module was replaced), and a persistent rear hatch malfunction that has never been resolved. The most serious concern is that the vehicle has, on multiple occasions, unexpectedly shut down while being driven, including instrument cluster and infotainment screens going dark, occurring when the automatic engine stop/start feature engages at intersections. The vehicle has restarted on its own after acceleration in some instances. Power steering assist has also been affected during at least one of these events. Most recently, the vehicle failed to start at all on one occasion, requiring roadside assistance to jump the battery; the dealer diagnosed unstable battery voltage but did not identify a root cause connecting this event to the prior shutdown incidents. This creates a significant safety risk due to potential loss of vehicle control or loss of power while operating in traffic. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer on multiple occasions (door module and wiring harness failures were diagnosed and repaired), though the shutdown-while-driving events specifically have not been duplicated by the dealer despite multi-day testing. The vehicle has been inspected exclusively by the authorized dealer; it has not been inspected by police or independent parties. Warning symptoms (flickering door lights, dead door controls) preceded the shutdown/stall issue by roughly a year before the stalling symptom began.

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the service I received, and the dealership’s failure to address what I believe is a serious safety issue following recall repairs performed on my vehicle. On XXX, I brought my vehicle for a routine oil change and to complete three mandatory recall campaigns, including an ECM software update related to a misfire recall. Prior to this service, my vehicle had never exhibited any misfiring, transmission, or drivability issues. However, on Sunday, XXX, and again on Monday, XXX my vehicle began experiencing dangerous driving symptoms that started only after the recall work was completed. Specifically: The engine RPMs surge while accelerating, but the vehicle does not increase speed accordingly. The vehicle jerks when braking. The vehicle hesitates and feels unsafe while driving at highway speeds. These issues did not exist before Genesis performed the recall repairs. On XXX, I contacted my service advisor, to report these safety concerns. He assured me that a manager would contact me ASAP and determine the next steps. No one ever called me back. I called again that same day. During that conversation, Rick suggested that my worn brake pads and rotors were the reason my vehicle was “misfiring.” This explanation makes does not explain why my engine RPMs are flaring and the vehicle is failing to accelerate properly immediately after an ECM recall update. Once again, I was told someone would follow up, and again, no one did. On XXX, at approximately 9:00 AM, I called Genesis of Danvers again and spoke with Rick who told that if I dropped the vehicle off today, nothing could be done with it today, and that a manager would call me back. Got vehicle towed XXX. As of today XXX I still have no update on my vehicle. No phone card no email no loaner. I am becoming increasingly concerned by the lack of communication surrounding a vehicle that was towed because of a significant safety concern. My vehicle is at the Genesis dealership with what they even consider a common problem. Road debris putting a hole in the unprotected Turbo Intercooler Radiator. This is a safety issue because the loss of power in the vehicle once you lose your turbo. The radiator is very unprotected down at the bottom of the front of the vehicle and Genesis needs to do something about this. This is going to cost me $1500 to fix there not covered by Genesis even though it's a serious design flaw. I know I'm not the first person to report this, as I've seen forum posts about it and the issue is quite common. If it's so common, and it's so vulnerable, there most definitely is a design flaw in the vehicle.

The air conditioning system in my 2022 Genesis GV70 appears to have a recurring evaporator core failure that results in loss of cold air and unsafe driving conditions. The first failure occurred in March 2026 at approximately 60,541 miles. Prior to failure, the vehicle produced a whirring noise and inconsistent temperatures from different vents, eventually stopping the production of cold air entirely. The vehicle was taken to a dealership/service center, where no visible leak was found after a dye test was conducted. The refrigerant was evacuated and recharged, temporarily restoring operation. During that visit, a service representative stated the issue could be related to the evaporator core. The same issue returned only a few months later at approximately 61,500 miles, requiring the vehicle to be brought back to the dealership for service in May 2026. At drop-off, dealership staff again indicated the evaporator core was likely the cause. This defect creates a significant safety concern in hot and humid weather conditions because the air conditioning system is unable to properly dehumidify the cabin and defog the windshield. My visibility while driving was impaired because the windshield fogged during rainy and humid conditions. Opening the windows to reduce fogging was not a practical solution due to heavy rain. No warning lights or messages appeared prior to either failure. Based on my own research, other 2022 Genesis GV70 owners appear to be reporting similar recurring air conditioning and evaporator core failures involving repeated refrigerant loss and temporary recharge repairs that do not permanently resolve the issue.

The service brake system has a recurring uneven/abnormal braking issue. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The concern has been reported to a Genesis dealer multiple times. After prior complaints of uneven braking, the dealer resurfaced/cut the rotors several times, but the problem kept returning. New brakes and rotors were installed in November 2025, but the uneven braking concern has continued. The safety concern is that the vehicle may not brake evenly or predictably, which could affect stopping stability and control. The dealer now states they cannot reproduce the concern, but at the same time is recommending another brake/rotor replacement due to uneven wear. This seems inconsistent because the brakes and rotors were recently replaced, and repeated uneven wear may indicate an unresolved issue with the braking system, calipers, rotors, ABS/stability system, suspension, or related components. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer/manufacturer representative. The dealer also stated the lower control arms are fine, but the root cause of the recurring uneven braking has not been clearly identified. No crash or injury has occurred to date. Warning lights or messages are UNKNOWN. I am concerned that the actual defect has not been properly diagnosed and that simply replacing brakes/rotors again may not address the underlying safety issue.

Due to icy roads, the Genesis slid into a curb at a slow rate of speed. The vehicle did not go up on to the curb and the speed was very slow. There were scratches on the wheel, but no other body damage or contact. Four airbags violently deployed in a spectacular overreaction which could have caused injury. I am concerned for public safety. The high-pressure fuel pump failed, resulting in insufficient fuel delivery to the engine. This caused a significant loss of engine output, with the vehicle unable to accelerate beyond approximately 35 mph or stalling around 60 mph and exhibiting very slow acceleration. The lack of adequate power created unsafe driving conditions. I was nearly rear-ended while making a right turn and again while attempting to merge onto the interstate, as the vehicle could not accelerate as expected. There were no warning lights or prior indications of a problem on the dashboard. The issue first occurred on 2/21/2026, and I immediately stopped driving the vehicle. The vehicle has since been inspected by the Charlotte Genesis dealership, which diagnosed a high-pressure fuel pump failure.

The radiator of my 2022 Genesis GV70 was damaged due to debris. When speaking with the Genesis technicians, they informed me that this happens frequently with this make and model becuase of the way the grille was manufactured. There is essentially no protection to the radiator which can cause damage to it without your knowledge. I was told it doesn't take a large rock to damage it and you probably wouldn't even know that it happened. Damage to the radiator can cause major issues to the vehicle while driving, potentially causing a major accident on the highway. The repair to the car was not covered, as they claim it was an external factor that caused it, even though the poorly designed grille should protect something as important as a radiator.

Vehicle has severe condensation on both headlights (Driver and Passenger) sides. This issue was addressed before and light were replaced by dealership. This is definitely a design defect that allows condensation to accumulate. This has affected proper light projection which would not be adequate for reasonable visibility during dark hours. The amount of liquid(condensation) could potentially cause an electrical failure or spark in the front part of the vehicle. This issue has been broadly discussed in Genesis Forums with no permanent solution in sight.

The coolant system on my 2022 Genesis GV70 has repeatedly failed despite multiple repairs. On April 2, Greenway Genesis diagnosed a coolant leak and replaced several components. The problem returned, and I brought the vehicle back on April 29 because the coolant appeared low again and the engine sounded louder than before. On October 25, Holler Hyundai confirmed another coolant leak, this time involving the integrated thermal management system. The recurring coolant loss places my safety at risk because it can lead to engine overheating, sudden power loss, or engine failure while driving. The issue has been reproduced and confirmed by two separate Genesis/Hyundai service centers. However, the root cause has not been identified or corrected, and the manufacturer has not provided a permanent solution. The vehicle has been inspected multiple times by authorized dealerships, and repair invoices are available for review. Despite these failures, no coolant warning light or dashboard message ever appeared, which raises concern that a sensor or monitoring component may not be functioning correctly. There were no warnings or messages at any point before or during the coolant loss. The vehicle is currently at Greenway Genesis and is available for inspection. Based on multiple repeated failures and the absence of any warning indicators, there appears to be an unresolved defect that could create a safety hazard while the vehicle is in operation.

We (wife and I) are the owner of a 2022 Genesis GV70. The vehicle has had multiple dangerous incidents affecting steering and driver control. Most recent event (dated 9/11/25): While driving at ~30 mph on city streets, an alarm sounded, the steering suddenly became very stiff, and the word “Emergency” appeared on the dashboard. This condition lasted briefly but made steering extremely difficult. Prior events (approx. six over the past two years): While driving at highway speeds, the vehicle has suddenly begun to swerve side to side with an alarm sounding — even though the lane assist feature was turned off. These incidents occur randomly, without warning, and cannot be reproduced on demand. Each time, she had to fight the steering to maintain control. Dealer inspection: The vehicle was taken to the Genesis dealership after earlier incidents. They found no diagnostic codes and offered no explanation or repair. Safety Concern: This vehicle appears to have a serious safety defect affecting steering control and stability. The unpredictable loss of normal steering or sudden emergency intervention poses a high risk of an accident. I request that NHTSA investigate this issue to determine whether it is part of a wider defect requiring recall or corrective action.

I experienced a significant safety issue while operating my vehicle. After initiating a turn, the vehicle's acceleration defaulted, causing it to reach speeds of 60 mph in just a few seconds. This rapid increase in speed resulted in the loss of control, leading the vehicle to crash into a guardrail. The incident raised serious concerns about the vehicle’s safety features, including the effectiveness of the acceleration system, braking mechanisms, and stability control. I recommend that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigate this issue to prevent future accidents and ensure better safety.

Vehicle experienced water intrusion through sunroof drainage system during rainfall, causing saturation of interior components and electrical malfunctions. Water accumulated in cup holders, dashboard areas, and saturated headliner materials. Following water exposure, vehicle developed multiple safety-critical electrical failures including: false forward collision avoidance system activation causing unexpected emergency braking with no obstruction present, and improper auto start/stop system engagement during low-speed driving causing vehicle to jerk and stall while in motion. Despite reporting this safety issue immediately, manufacturer Genesis Motor America failed to disclose that this was a known defect covered under Technical Service Bulletin 24-BD-008G. Customer service representatives did not mention existing TSB and refused emergency service appointments, forcing 2-month wait for service scheduling despite life-threatening electrical malfunctions. Customer had to independently discover TSB documentation through research. Only after customer escalated with TSB evidence did Genesis authorize repair. Dealer confirmed drainage system failure and completed repairs per TSB guidelines that manufacturer should have immediately referenced. Genesis's failure to disclose known safety defect and refusal of emergency service created extended exposure to dangerous electrical malfunctions that could result in accidents.

SAFETY DEFECT: Water intrusion through defective sunroof drainage system creating electrical hazards. Vehicle exhibits water leakage into interior during rainfall due to clogged sunroof drain hose plugs. Water accumulates in dashboard area, cup holders, and center console where electrical components are located, creating potential for electrical shorts, fires, or system failures. Component Failure: Sunroof drainage system fails to properly channel water away from vehicle interior. Manufacturer has issued Technical Service Bulletin 24-BD-008G acknowledging this defect in GV70 and GV80 models, stating "vehicles may exhibit water leakage inside the vehicle due to the sunroof drain hose plugs being clogged with foreign material." Safety Risk: Standing water near electrical systems poses fire hazard and potential electrical failure while driving. Interior materials remain saturated creating mold conditions affecting air quality. Driver visibility may be compromised by water dripping from interior surfaces. Dealer Confirmation: Multiple owners report Genesis service technicians confirming drainage system design cannot handle normal rainfall volumes. Other owners have received warranty repairs for identical symptoms after manufacturer initially resisted. Symptoms: No warning lamps appear. Problem manifests during any rainfall with water appearing in cup holders, dashboard areas, and dripping from interior panels. Issue occurs while vehicle is parked or in motion during rain. Widespread Problem: Manufacturer acknowledgment through official Technical Service Bulletin indicates this affects multiple vehicles with same design defect. Component available for inspection. Status: Manufacturer refuses warranty repair despite published Technical Service Bulletin documenting this exact defect.
