2000 GMC C Series Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 4 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2000 GMC C Series. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. A complaint is not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. Narratives are shown exactly as filed.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

I BOUGHT EXTENDED WARRANTY WHEN I BOUGHT TRUCK. IN MAY 2003 TRANSMISSION STARTED TO GO AND WAS TOLD BY DUTTON MOTORS IN RIVERSIDE THAT GMPP WAS NOT GOING TO PAY THE CLAIM BECAUSE WE MISSINSTALLED A TRANSMISSION FILTER. APPROVED DUTTON TO FIX CAR AND FIND OUT THEY NEVER PUT IN A CLAIM TO GMPP. CALLED DUTTON TO SEE WHY AND THEY ENDED UP HAVING GMPP ADJUSTER OUT WHEN TRUCK WAS ALREADY FIXED. GMPP DENIED CLAIMING WRONG FILTER INSTALLED. WE WERE TOLD BY DUTTON FILTER WAS INSTALLED WRONG. TWO DIFFERENT STORIES. WE PAID TO HAVE TRUCK FIXED BUT COMPLAINED ON CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CARD. NEVER HEARD FROM GM AGAIN. JULY 2003 EXACTLY TWO MONTHS AFTER LAST REBUILD. MY KIDS AND I WERE IN CARPOOL LANE GOING 70MPH WHEN TRANNY SOUNDS LIKE IT SUCKED UP A THOUSAND COINS. ALMOST IN CAR WRECK WHEN I PULL OVER AND GET OFF FREEWAY. TOW TRUCK TAKES TO DUTTON BECAUSE THEY DID ORIGINAL WORK. TOOK TWO WEEKS TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM AND TOLD IT WAS SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN LAST REBUILD AND THAT GMPP WOULD BE PAYING FOR IT. ADJUSTER AGAIN CAME OUT & DENIED CLAIM. THEY SAY THAT SOMEONE HAD TO HAVE SHIFTED INTO PARK WHILE TRUCK STILL MOVING. DUTTON CLAIMS THAT GMPP NEVER DENIES CLAIMS BUT THEY HAVE DENIED ME TWICE. I HAVE LOST TIME FROM WORK. $5000 FOR REPAIRS AND RENTAL CAR, STRESS, ETC... WHEN WARRANTY WAS SOLD TO US IT DID NOT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT NOT COVERING THESE TYPE OF THINGS. I HAVE ORIGINAL EVERYTHING FROM PAMPHLET TO ALL INVOICES OF REPAIRS. I CAN NOT AFFORD THESE REPAIRS AND NEED HELP!!!! THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO THIS STORY.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
