1992 GMC C2500 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

AS I WATCHED THE NEWS ABOUT THE FIRESTONE TIRE FAILURES I COULDN'T HELP WONDERING IF THE PROBLEM ISN'T MORE WIDESPREAD IN THE INDUSTRY. A FEW YEARS AGO I OWNED A GMC PICKUP WITH UNIROYAL TIRES. THE TREAD SEPARATED ON ONE TIRE IN MUCH THE SAME WAY AS THE FIRESTONES. IT DID $2600 DAMAGE TO THE FENDER. MY INSURANCE COMPANY PAID FOR THE REPAIR AND TRIED TO COLLECT FROM UNIROYAL. UNIROYAL TOOK THE TIRE AND THEN SAID THE DAMAGE WAS FROM UNDER OR OVERINFLATION. THAT WASN'T TRUE BECAUSE I ALWAYS CHECKED PRESSURES CAREFULLY, BUT IT WAS MY WORD AGAINST THEIRS. I HAD TO REPLACE THE OTHER THREE TIRES WHEN THEY SHOWED THE FIRST SIGNS OF TREAD SEPARATION. I HEARD STORIES AT THE BODY SHOP ABOUT OTHER OWNERS HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS, INCLUDING SERIOUS ACCIDENTS.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 245/75R16E )
