1990 GMC G35 Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

ON THE ABOVE DATE S/B BOUND NYS NORTHWAY N/B OF EXIT 16 PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE TREAD SEPERATED, ALARGE CHUNK OF THE TREAD PEALED BACK FROM THE INTERIOR PART OF THE TIRE. THE TIRE RETATAINED AIR, AIR LOSS OCCURED SLOWLY ENOUGH TO DRIVE VEHILCE AT A MINIMAL SPEAD APPROX. 1/4 MILE ON SHOULDER TO THE EXIT 16 TRUCK STOP. TIRE CONTINUED TO SLOWLY LOSS ALL AIR. TIRE WAS REMOVED, SPARE WAS INSTALLED. TRIP WAS CONTINUED S/B. ON THE NYS THRUWAY, 1 MILE NORTH OF THE MODENA SERVICE AREA THE LEFT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. THE TIRE COMPLETELY DISENTEGRATED. THE VEHICLE DROVE OFF OF THE ROAD OUT OF CONTROL, ONTO THE SHOULDER. I HAD INSPECTED THESE TIRES NUMEROUS TIMES PRIOR TO THIS DATE, PRIOR TO ANY FIRESTONE TIRE PROBLEM. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE PROPERLY INFLATED WITH THE COREECT AIR PRESSURE. I HAD CHECKED THE AIR PRESSURE AND TIRE CONDITION IMMEDIATLY PRIOR TO THE TRIP. I AM NORMALLY VIGILANT IN MAINTAINING A SAFE VEHICLE AND HAD BENN AWARE OF THE FIRESTONE TIRE RECALL WHICH CAUSED ME TO REPEATEDLY CHECK THE TIRES FROM JULY THROUGH THE INCIDENT DATE. THESE TIRES HAD GREATER THAN 65% OF TREAD LIFE LEFT. THEY HAD NO VISABLE DAMAGE TO THE INNER SIDE WALLS, OUTER SIDE WALLS OR TREAD. I HAVE A PHOTOGRAPH OF THE FIRST TIRE SHOWING THE TREAD SEPERATION. I DROVE OVER A MILE ON THE SECOND TIRE AFTER THE BLOW OUT AND THERE WASN NOTHING OF VALUE TO PHOTOGRAGH. A FIRESTONE SHOP IN MIDDLETOWN NY REPLACED THE TIRES AND TOOK THE DAMAGED TIRES. I HAVE THE RECEIPT WITH THE PARTICULARS. PLEASE CALL ME, I HAVE MORE TO ADD.. (TIRESIZE: 16.5)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 16.5 )

Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
