What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2000 GMC Savana 2500, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC SIERRA 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH AND PULLING UP TO HIS DRIVEWAY HE TRIED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS OF VEHICLE AND THEY WOULD NOT UNLOCK. HE WAS ALSO UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS WITH THE REMOTE. HE THEN TRIED TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE FROM THE OUTSIDE TO NO AVAIL.THIS FAILURE ONLY OCCURS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY STATED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN TO BE DIAGNOSED. HE THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. IT TOOK 1 HOUR TO OPEN THE DOOR , THEY TOOK THE DOOR APART AND REMOVED THE ELECTRICAL HALF OF THE MECHANISM AND REPLACED IT AND THEN IT FINALLY WORKED. THE PART WAS ORDERED FROM THE GMC DEALER. THERE IS ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM WHERE HE IS DRIVING 5 MPH WHEN MAKING A TURN AND STEPPING ON THE BRAKES THE BRAKES DO NOT ENGAGE. HE HAS TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP. GMC WAS CONTACTED AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WILL REPAIR THE WHOLE BRAKE SYSTEM AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE . THERE HAVE BEEN NO REPAIRS AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT FOR THE BRAKES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116900 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117000.
