What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2007 GMC Sierra 2500, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 103,000.
I OWN A 2007 GMC SIRREA 2500HD SLT TRUCK AND IT HAS CRACKS IN THE DASH BOARD.WHICH FROM MY RESEARCH THESE GM TRUCKS AND MORE HAVE A HISTORY OF CRACKING AND GM REFUSES TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF GM WOULD ADMIT TO THIS PROBLEM AND FIX IT AT THEIR EXPENSE.THE TRUCK WAS JUST SITTING WHEN I NOTICED THE CRACKS. THE CRACKS ARE LOCATED ABOVE THE GAUGE PANEL AND ON THE CORNER OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG.

BRAKE LINES FAILED ON MY 2007 GMC 2500 AND MY 2007 GMC 1500. IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GMC VEHICLES FROM 2003 TO 2009. WHY WASN'T THESE VEHICLES RECALLED FOR THIS. I WAS TOLD THAT GMC WAS OFFERING A DISCOUNTED PRICE FOR FAILED BRAKE LINES, BUT THE DEALER CHARGED ME FULL PRICE. $1,667.00. THE DISCOUNTED PRICE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE $500.00.
ABS MODULE IS NO LONGER WORKING AND GM IS NO LONGER SUPPLYING THE PART AND NONE ARE AVAILABLE. TALKED TO REPAIR SHOPS AND IT ISN'T A FIXABLE PART LEAVING THE TRUCK WITHOUT ABS.

From owner reports, verbatim
I left my vehicle for service (19 April 2023 - approximately 8:30 am CT) for an urgent safety recall to Bommarito West County GMC dealership located at 15736 Manchester, Ellisville, MO 63011 (Phone: 636-391-7200). When I drove the vehicle in the dealership and had not issues driving and steering. And when I picked it up at approximately 12:30 pm the same day the service consultant (Joshua Delanoix) did not bring the vehicle to me the same as I left it. Joshua asked that I pick it up in the parking lot, instead. I drove off the lot and noticed that the steering wheel would pull severely off to the right side when breaking causing the car to become unstable and steering towards oncoming traffic. I slowed down until I could retain better control of the vehicle to get home. Then, at approximately 4:30 pm, I drove back to the dealership and spoke to the same service consultant. He then referred me to the service manager (Pat Roberts). I explained to service manager that I could not drive the vehicle safely and requested a safety check. Pat refused to check the service work or the vehicle safety and disregarded my concerns. Afterwards, I spoke to the sales manager (Larry Buchhorn) and explained again my safety concern and he followed up with the same service manager and told me that there was nothing they could do and that the service manager's supervisor (Mike Simms) would contact me. Finally, I was allowed to drive out of the dealership with the same safety issue for the second time.
A PRESSURE LINE ON STEERING COOLER RUSTED THROUGH AND BLEW FLUID OUT ALL OVER GRILL AND BUMPER. MAKES ONE HELL OF A NOISE WITH NO FLUID IN PUMP. I WAS DRIVING 10 MPH WHEN IT HAPPENED AND HAD TO GO ABOUT 1/4 MILE TO PARK.

I HAD STARTED THE TRUCK, CONNECTED A LANDSCAPE TRAILER AND STARTED OUT OF THE YARD, I STOPPED IN THE DRIVEWAY TO CHECK THE SAFETY CHAINS. WHILE I WAS OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE I HEARD A BANG. WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE TRUCK THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON AND BOTH FRONT SEATBELTS WERE LOCKED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC SIERRA 2500. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE SEAT BELT INDEPENDENTLY UNBUCKLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED GM CASE NUMBER: 8-293255-7588. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

AUGUST 19, 2016 TRUCK WAS IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN THE VEHICLE WENT OUT OF CONTROL.. A BRACKET ON THE LEFT FRONT OF THE TRUCK BROKE AND THERE APPEARED TO BE A CRACK ON IT. WE BELIEVE THE ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY THE BRACKET BRAKING AND THEN MADE IT SO THAT WE COULD NOT CONTROL THE VEHICLE
TRUCK WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY AT FIFTY OR FIFTY FIVE, SUDDENLY DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, WENT OFF THE ROAD AND LANDED IN TREES AND BUSHES, NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, THERE WERE THREE PASSENGERS. *JS

From owner reports, verbatim
GENERAL MOTORS GMC SIERRA DURAMAX EQUIPPED PICK UP TRUCKS (LMM SERIES) HAVE AN ISSUE WITH LEAKING TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES WHERE THE RUBBER HOSES ARE CRIMPED TO THE STEEL CONNECTORS. THE PROBLEM IS A FIRE HAZARD DUE TO LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID. GM HAS ALREADY ISSUED REPLACEMENT OF THESE HOSES FOR THE 2008 MODEL YEAR. IN 2007 GM HAD A SPLIT YEAR OFFERING FOR THE DURAMAX. THE 2007 VERSION WAS A SERIES LBZ. IN THE SECOND HALF OF 2007 (DUE TO EMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS) GMC INTRODUCED THE MODEL YEAR DESIGNATION 2007.5. THE 2007.5 WERE THE FIRST OF THE LMM SERIES. THE 2007.5 ARE IDENTICAL TO MODEL YEAR 2008. THE 2007.5 LMM SERIES HAVE THE SAME LEAKING TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE SAME DECISION AS THE 2008 MODELS. SINCE THE 2007.5 SHOW UP AS "2007" MODEL YEAR THEY HAVE NOT BEEN INCLUDED. GM HAS MISSED THIS SMALL GROUP OF 1/2 YEAR VEHICLES (I BELIEVE AN OVERSIGHT) IN THE HOSE REPLACE RECALL. SINCE THIS ISSUE HAS ALREADY BEEN IDENTIFIED FOR 2008 VEHICLES THE SAME ISSUE APPLIES FOR 2007.5 MODELS. THEY SHOULD ALSO BE INCLUDED BUT CURRENTLY ARE NOT. I'M HOPING THAT THE AWARENESS OF THE UNUSUAL SPLIT YEAR MODELS (SERIES LMM) IS REALIZED AND THEIR VIN NUMBERS ADDED TO THE RECALL. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND ENGINES GOES INTO REDUCED POWER MODE. DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO GO OVER 40 MPH. WHILE PULLING A TRAILER THE ENGINE DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO CLIMB HILLS OR GO OVER 25 MPH. I HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER TWICE AND THEY SAY GM IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THEY DON'T HAVE A FIX FOR IT. IT'S NOT SAFE HAVING A VEHICLE THAT BREAKS DOWN IN -15 DEGREE WEATHER AND HAVING THE DEALER TELL YOU THAT THERE IS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM AND TO JUST KEEP DRIVING THE VEHICLE. *TR

Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
I HAD TO REPLACE A FUEL LINE LAST FALL BECAUSE IT RUSTED THRU.. ON JUNE 6 2014 I NOTICED FUEL DRIPPING FROM THE FENDER EDGE WHICH WAS FOUND TO BE A FUEL LEAK FROM A LINE ON TOP THE TANK. *TR
AS I WAS LEAVING LAS VEGAS ON I 15, I GOT A MESSAGE OF REDUCED POWER. I WAS JUST OUT OF HEAVY TRAFFIC, TRAVELING ABOUT 70 MPH, WHEN THE ENGINE SLOWED TO ABOUT 1,000 RPM WITH OUT WARNING. FOUND OUT LATER THAT IT WAS A BROKEN LEAD WIRE TO THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. THE TRUCK HAD ABOUT 37,000 MILES ONIT. THE TRUCK IS A 2007 2500HD WITH 6.0 ENGINE. THE TRUCKI HAS NEVER BEEN WORKED ON,AND IS LINE NEW. DEALER INSTALLED P/N 88986255 CONNECTOR. I RECEIVED HALF OR THE COST BACK AFTER CALLING GMC. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM. AS I WAS JUST OUT OF HEAVY TRAFFIC AND COULD PULL OFF OF THE ROAD. *TR

Other / unspecified
Reports whose component NHTSA recorded as unknown, or that do not map to one of the categories above.
From owner reports, verbatim
I OWN A 2007 GMC SIERRA 2500HD PICKUP WITH 94278 MILES ON IT. THIS WEEK END THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING ASSY FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME, AND THE LEFT ONE WAS ON ITS WAY TO FAILING. AT A COST OF 375.00 EACH I REPLACED BOTH SIDES. THIS SEEMS VERY EXCESSIVE TO ME TO HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHEEL BEARINGS FOR THE SECOND TIME WITH LESS THAN ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND MILES ON THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC SIERRA 2500. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE RECEIVER PART OF THE HITCH SEPARATED AND FELL TO THE GROUND WITH THE TRAILER ATTACHED. THE TRAILER HITCH HAS TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 1,600 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,400.

CLUTCH PEDDLE BROKE OUT IN MAY 2019. PLASTIC CLUTCH MASTER PUSHED OUT OF CLUTCH PEDDLE BECAUSE OF POOR DESIGN. *TR

Tires & wheels
Reports naming tires, wheels, hubs, or the tire-pressure monitoring system.
From owner reports, verbatim
WENT TO RETAILER TO GET A FLAT REPAIRED - THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT REPAIRABLE ANDSOLD ME A USED TIRE. WITHIN 250 MILES AFTER PURCHASE THE TREAD SEPARATED - AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK. NEITHER THE MANUFACTURER OF THE TIRE NOR THE RETAILER WOULD HELP WITH THE SUBSTANTIAL REPAIR COSTS. *TR
TIRE PRESSURE RECOMMENDED TOO HIGH. I BOUGHT A NEW 2007 GMC SIERRA 2500HD DIESEL CREW CAB LONG BED. AND THE REQUIRED TIRE PRESSURE FRONT IS 60PSI. THE REQUIRED REAR IS 80 PSI. COLD. THE DIAGNOSTICS ON DASH WARN YOU WHEN THE PRESSURE IS HIGH OR LOW BY 2LBS. THE PART THAT BOTHERS ME IS I PRIMARILY DRIVE THE TRUCK EMPTY AND IT IS VERY SQUIRRELLY AND HARD RIDING WHEN EMPTY AND TIRES AT 80 PSI. ESPECIALLY IN WET WEATHER. THE OTHER THING THAT BOTHERS ME IS THE TIRES ARE SIZE 245 75 R 16 E DESIGNED FOR NO MORE THAN 80 PSI COLD. THERE IS NO ROOM TO ALLOW LOWERING TIRE TO A SAFE PRESSURE WHEN TRUCK IS EMPTY. THE ONLY OTHER SOLUTION IS TO ADD WEIGHT TO THE BED OF THE TRUCK TO PUT TRACTION TO REAR TIRES AND I DON'T THINK THAT IS REALISTIC. BEFORE SOMEONE HAS AN ACCIDENT TRYING TO OBEY THE LABEL MAYBE THIS LABEL AND DIAGNOSTICS SHOULD BE CHANGED. *TR

Visibility
Reports naming windshields, glass, wipers, defrosters and mirrors.
From owner reports, verbatim
2007 GMC SIERRA IS BLOWING EXTREMELY HOT AIR BUT IT WILL NOT CLEAR ICE FROM WINDOW. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE AIR IS SO HOT IT BURNS AND YOU CAN'T PLACE YOUR HAND ON THE DASH BECAUSE IT IS THAT HOT. BUT HE SAYS IT WILL NOT DEFROST THE WINDOW. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEFROSTER DID NOT DEFROST THE UPPER PART OF THE WINDSHIELD, ONLY THE LOWER PART. *JB
