2002 GMC Tahoe Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

DRIVER'S SHOULDER HARNESS RETRACTOR MAKES A SQUEAKING SOUND WITH NORMAL CAR OR DRIVER MOVEMENTS. BROUGHT TO DEALER FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD IT WAS DUE TO WEAR ON SEAT BELT RETRACTOR RATCHET AND THAT THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS A REPLACEMENT OF THE RETRACTOR AND REUPHOLSTERED OF SEAT AT A COST OF $350. FAILURE TO MAKE THE REPAIR MIGHT RESULT IN THE FAILURE OF THE SEAT BELT TO LOCK IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD AND HAS 40,OOO MILES ON IT. THIS APEARS TO BE A SAFETY DEFECT. *JB
