2000 GMC Vandura Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2000 GMC Vandura, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Reports by component

Ranked by how many owner reports name each component category

  • Brakes133.3%

AFTER STEERING INKAGE AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEM ORIGINALLY I ASKED TO CANCEL AND HAVE MY VEHICLE RETURNED AND WAS REFUSED. THIS IS THE THIRD INCIDENT WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL. THIS THING IS DANGEROUS. THE SIDE WAS DAMAGED WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, BUT THEY SAID IT HAPPENED ON THE LOT. TODAY THE BRAKES OVERHEATED INCLUDING THE WHEELS AND TIRES. THESE PEOPLE KNEW I WAS LEAVING FOR MEXICO WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE TIE ROD END LET GO HAD I LEFT FOR MEXICVO I PROBABLY WOULD NOT BE ALIVE. I TOLD GMC AND THEY IGNORED THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TIE ROD END AND APPARENTLY PERFORMED NO INSPECTIONS. I ASKED THE DEALER TO CANCEL THE CONTRACT AND GIVE ME BACK MY VEHICLE. HE TOLD ME THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE. I AM IN MEXICO FOR THE WINTER.. THE DEALER ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR THE LIGHTS THREE TIMES AND COULD NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. I HAD TO KEEP REPLACING FUSES AND WHEN I GOT TO MEXICO AN AUTO ELECTRIC SHOP FOUND THE PROBLEM. I HAVE REASON TO BELIEVE THIS MILAGE WAS TURNED BACK ON THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY A NEW 2000 VEHICLE WHEN I MADE THE PURCHASE. THE LAST TWO INCIDENTS MY WIFE WAS WITH ME AND COULD ALSO HAVE BEEN KILLED. THE DEALER REFUSED TO GIVE ME THE PAPERWORK ON THE FIRST TWO INCIDENTS. I DO HAVE THE RECEIPTS FOR THE MEXICO REPAIRS AND THE DISC BRAKES WHICH WERE REPLACED
