I think it is a transmission type of failure. I'm not sure of the exact mechanical specifics. While putting the vehicle in reverse, driving and or accelerating it feels like the transmission is locking up and then releasing, and then locking up again. It felt very dangerous for that to happen while driving down the road. I took the vehicle to a local mechanic that was near by for assistance and he said I should take it to a dealership because there was a recall due to that issue on my type of vehicle that he knew about. So I call a dealership to make an appointment, tell them I think the issue is due to a safety recall due to the transmission locking up. They check my Vin# and say there are no recalls for my vehicle, even though it falls in the same year, make, and model of affected GM vehicles , therefore they could not make a recall appointment for me. Even though i was experiencing the same type of issues on the same type of vehicle thats included in the recall. I did not have any warning lights before, or while driving. The day it happened, I drove the vehicle to work, parked, was at my office all day. Came out to go home and put the SUV in reverse and it like lunged forward, almost hitting the car parked in front of me. I thought I must have had it in the wrong gear or something. So I put it in park and then tried again. Then it felt like it locked up, rocked forward, and then allowed me to back up. I put it in drive and again it was like it was locking up and releasing very forcefully but then smoothed out and drove normal for a few miles and then locked up again. There were never any warning lights or messages during this time. I called GM to inquire why my vehicle isnt in the safety recall and all they could tell me was that they did not know. I was very afraid I was going to be involved in an accident due to this issue.

On [XXX] brake system failure, service ESC, Forward Collision system unavailable and check engine lights came on the dashboard and the vehicle had no brakes. Taken to dealership and Conley GMC advised the Main Module was burnt out. $1200.00. Car was “fixed” and sent out. The next morning all the check engine light along with all other failure lights came on after module was replaced. Taken back to dealership and they advised that everything had to be manually programmed which was done and sent out. [XXX] same dashboard errors were up again. Taken back to dealership and they advised they needed to reprogram manually that was done and sent out. The next morning all lights were back on. It was the weekend so they wouldn’t take the car or provide a rental. May 23rd car was taken back to dealership and Conley advised the master cylinder was bad and had to order parts. $4300.00 in repair cost along with 2.5 week at the dealership and $150.00 in rental cost. I found online that GM knew of this issue with the 2022 GMC Yukon XL vehicles and a recall was made however this vehicle VIN number was not included in this recall. I notified Conley GMC and they stated they were not informed of this issue. I made a claim with GM and told them of this issue and my safety concerns and they advised that because this was not included in the recall that there was nothing they could do and they would not be covering financial assistance or reimbursement and they called this an inconvenience instead of a real safety issue as each time my vehicle had no working brakes. No working brakes causes safety concerns for everyone in the vehicle as well as other vehicles. All work orders are at Conley Buick GMC in Bradenton, Fl. Two weeks ago I heard a faint ticking sound. I had a professional look at it and they said that I had a cylinder sticking and to add an additive the next oil change. I still had 1,500 miles until then and so I did not do that. That noise stopped a day later. Last Friday, it started to tick again, and then it got very loud. I live rurally and was 45 minutes from home. The engine went from ticking to full clunking and very low power in just a moment. I luckily found a small engine shop to check the codes, but as I was parked there, the car would not go in reverse! He had to clear the codes to get it to go into reverse. I had to then slowly drive 45 minutes back to our small town. I drove to and immediately parked it at our local repair shop. It can not be driven now. The lights that came on were the Rear axle system off, forward collision system, service traction control, engine light flashing, and service ESC light. Not to forget that it would not go into reverse. Also the suspension system seemed to malfunction and not lift or lower the car.It seemed to clunk and try, but nothing happened. The whole car basically went down. I see there is a recall for this year or car, but my VIN is not included. I am hoping that it will be included as the repair shop is telling me it will be close to $10,000.

The contact owns a 2022 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 - 60 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as intended for approximately one second before accelerating. A dealer was contacted. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed; however, the diagnosis was unknown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was in the process of towing the vehicle to another location. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.

Traveling North bound on Highway 14 in Southern California on January 24, 2025. In the fast lane traveling approximately 70MPH when with no warning what so ever the vehicle shifted into neutral and lost power. Nearly rear ended trying to get out of traffic and to the right shoulder. Once stopped the vehicle would not start, stuck in Park, and could not turn the electronics off. Stuck in vehicle for 3 hours because it was too dangerous to exit vehicle. Tow truck arrived. Tried to jump the battery which by this time was dead. Had to drag the vehicle up the flatbed with wench do to vehicle unable to shift out of Park.

The onstar system failed and will not work. This affects the ability to make emergency calls, report/determine our vehicle’s location, the vehicle’s navigation system, and some of the blind spot monitors are also affected, though intermittently. The issue first happened two days after the dealer fixed a recall with the serial data gateway module. We called onstar and they were able to resend a signal and it was fixed temporarily. Two days later it happened again and the amount of electronics affected in the vehicle is astounding. We called onstar again and went through all the troubleshooting and they say they can’t fix it, it’s a dealer problem now and the module needs to be replaced. The dealer states this is a common problem but will not cover it under warranty. In the beginning there was no immediate indication that systems had failed other than certain electronics not working. However after a couple weeks there is now a check engine light associated with all the electronics that are failing due to this defective telecom module. In a 2 year old vehicle, this is highly frustrating and poses safety concerns for my family.

The 2022 Yukons were sold without certain parking sensors installed, with the promise of a retrofit as soon as the sensors were available. I purchased this vehicle in May 2022, and am still waiting on a parking sensor retrofit. I have called GMC several times about this chip, and have been told they're still waiting, even though they continue to produce additional vehicles. I bought the vehicle with the expectation that the parking sensors would ultimately be repaired; how long will you allow GMC to delay these retrofits?

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
