2007 Gulf Stream Independence Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

12/12/16 OUR ENTRY DOOR LOCK FAILED TO UNLOCK THEREFORE WE COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR TO OUR MOTOR HOME. THE MOTORHOME WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WE WERE JUST LUCK WE WERE NOT INSIDE OR ON A TRIP. THE LOCK ALSO COULD NOT BE UNLOCKED FROM INSIDE ONCE WE CLIMBED IN THROUGH A WINDOW TO GAIN ACCESS TO OUR MOTORHOME. YOU COULD NOT GET OUT AS THE LOCK WOULD NOT UNLOCK. MY HUSBAND TRIED TO DRILL OUT THE LOCK TO ALLOW THE DEAD BOLT TO BE MOVED DID NOT WORK STILL COULD NOT GET OUT OR INSIDE THE MOTOR HOME. AFTER TWO DAYS OF DRILLING AND CUTTING ON THE LOCK HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE LOCK REMOVED BY CUTTING OFF THE TWO DEAD BOLT PLUNGERS THAT WENT INTO THE OUTSIDE FRAME; ALLOWING US ENTRY TO THE MOTORHOME. THE MILEAGE IS 48,888. WE DO NOT KNOW HOW THE DEAD BOLT LOCK GOT ENGAGED AS WE DID NOT USE THE DEAD BOLT TO LOCK THE MOTORHOME THE LOCK LOCKED ON IT'S OWN.
