What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2006 Harley-Davidson Flhtpi, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.

From owner reports, verbatim
I OWN A FLHTPI. I APPLIED THE FRONT BRAKE ON THE DAY LISTED. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT I WAS ONLY GOING 4 OR 5 MILES AN HOUR. THE FRONT BRAKE LEVER MOVED ALL THE WAY UP TO THE HANDLE BAR AT WHICH POINT THE FRONT BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED ALLOWING THE BIKE TO CONTINUE TO MOVE FORWARD. I PUMPED THE FRONT BRAKE LEVER SEVERAL TIMES AND GOT SOME PRESSURE BACK. I TOOK THE BIKE THE DEALER WHERE ONE FRONT PAD WAS MISSING FROM THE BACKING PLATE AND THE OTHER CAME APART WHILE CHANGING THE PADS. I COULD HAVE VERY EASILY BEEN INJURED OR KILLED. *TR
I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE RIGHT SECTION TO POST THIS, BUT I'LL TRY IT ANY WAY. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HARLEY-DAVIDSON DATED 3/11/08. IT WAS ABOUT A RECALL CONCERNING ABS BRAKES. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FOLLOWING MONTH 4/12/08. I TOOK THE BIKE IN AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PARTS WERE ON BACK ORDER. ON 4/25/08 I CALLED HARLEY DAVIDSON 1-414-343-4056 AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE WAITING ON A VENDOR FOR PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM ,AND THEY HAD NO ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL FOR THE PARTS. IT HAS BEEN TWO MONTHS SINCE I RECEIVED THE RECALL LETTER . HOW LONG SHOULD I HAVE TO WAIT FOR A RESOLUTION TO THIS RECALL? *TR
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
