The defect: CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES WERE BUILT WITH MIRRORS THAT WERE IMPROPERLY LOCATED ON THE INNER FAIRING.
The risk: IN THIS CONDITION, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO ADJUST THE MIRRORS PROPERLY, THEREBY NOT ALLOWING THE RIDER TO HAVE THE APPROPRIATE REARWARD FIELD OF VISION, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: AT THE OPTION OF THE OWNER, THE DEALER WILL (1) REPLACE THE INNER FAIRING WITH A NEW INNER THAT HAS THE MIRROR MOUNTING HOLES PROPERLY POSITIONED; (2) DRILL ANOTHER HOLE AND HAVE THE MIRRORS REPOSITIONED. THIS METHOD WILL CAUSE THE ORIGINAL HOLE TO BE EXPOSED OUTSIDE OF THE MIRROR BASE, WHICH IS COSMETICALLY UNDESIRABLE. THE EXPOSED HOLE WOULD BE COVERED WITH A DECAL; OR (3) DRILL ANOTHER HOLE AND HAVE THE MIRRORS REPOSITIONED, THEN, AT A LATER DATE, HAVE THE MIRRORS REPLACED WITH NEW MIRRORS THAT HAVE A LARGER BASE WHICH WILL COVER THE ORIGINAL MOUNTING HOLE. THIS RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 28, 2005. OWNERS MAY CONTACT HARLEY-DAVIDSON AT 414-343-4056.

MY COMPLAINT IS HARLEY-DAVIDSON MOTORCYCLE MANUFACTURING COMPANY KNOWINGLY MANUFACTURED UNSAFE PARTS THAT SUPPORTED THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE BAT WING FAIRING MOUNTED TO THE FRONT SUSPENSION OF ALL TOURING MODEL MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED FROM 2006 TILL 2009. HARLEY DAVIDSON SHOWED BAD FAITH AND THE FACT THAT NO MANUFACTURE SAFETY RECALL OR BEST PRACTICES NOTIFICATION WERE ATTEMPTED. I'M HOPING THAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT WILL HOLD HARLEY-DAVIDSON ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR UNSAFE ACT. 2006 HARLEY DAVIDSON FLHXI MIRRORS VIBRATE TO THE POINT YOU CAN NOT SEE ANYTHING WITH THEM. THE SUPPORT BRACKET INSIDE THE FAIRING BROKEN WHERE UPPER SCREW GOES THREW BRACKET AND INTO FAIRING. HARLEY DAVIDSON HAS COME OUT WITH A NEW BRACKET BUT WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL BECAUSE THEY FEEL IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. IF IT WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE THEN WHY DOES THE STATE OF MARYLAND STATE YOU MUST HAVE THEM ON THE MOTORCYCLE. *TR

2006 HARLEY FLHXI WITH VIBRATIONS IN THE FRONT WHEEL. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VIBRATION COMES FROM THE FRONT WHEEL DURING BRAKING. *KB THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND THE CONDITION WAS FAIR WEAR AND TEAR.

Availability of the new Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) batteries will vary by market and will be transitioning over the next few months. NOTE: The ring terminal screws are not compatible between Leoch and East Penn batteries. The new batteries will include new ring terminal screws, which must be used. The ring terminal screws from the old battery need to be discarded.
