2022 Harley-Davidson Fxbbs Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

The fork seals on the bike went bad at 5000 miles with no accident or damage to the bike. The oil inside of the fork tube is leaking onto the wheels and the brakes. The bike does not want to stop as fast. The front end of the bike dips upon a complete stop. Braking in general is compromised. If the bike does need to be stopped in an emergency the seal could blow, and dump oil all over the front of the bike, causing the bike to become near impossible to stop safely. The parts are not readily available, and an employee at Arsenal Harley Davidson in Waterford, MI stated that they are only available through the manufacturer on a 7-10 day wait, and that this is a known problem that has not been rectified with a formal recall.

Traveling on Calif i10 west midnight February 2022. Approaching exit making lane changes to make exit safely. Speeds of 65 70 mph. Pushed down on rear brake of motorcycle and the pedal fell completely off of it mount and became suddenly ineffective. No back brakes able to stop the bike utilizing alternative methods and heavy engine transmission use and barely the front brakes since relying on only that tool to stop the vehicle snd i wiukd have been disasteroys if not fatal. Flew into empty cross street street banked hard right finally got vehicle completely stopped at intersection. Traveled ahead to local town to locate something to use to repair brake pedal got to a point where I harvested a bolt from the seat of the bike to secure the pedal on the bike until I could repair it properly at a friends house. Too many close calls using this ineffective back brake have led me to this report intersections, near collusion , collision avoidance ,hazardous road conditions suddenly appear loose gravel and one wild skunk.. there seems to be nothing rider can do and nothing for a fact that the manufacturer wants to do to improve the safety and proper function of this defective system because I found that they have a silent recall on their known faulty brakes systems opting to silence only those who present a complaint etc about them. And this is a very significant function of the vehicle . And has caused the use of this vehicle I purchased in January to he scaled down to near trophy only use. Electrical issues i covered in my last filing.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
