2011 Harley-Davidson Vrscdx Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I RAN OUT OF FUEL WHILE RIDING MY MOTORCYCLE ON THE EXPRESS WAY IN A CURVE. ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE MOTORCYCLE. THE CAUSE OF ME RUNNING OUT OF GAS WAS BECAUSE MY FUEL GAUGE WAS NOT CORRECT. THE GAUGE READ 3/4 TANK FULL WHEN IT RAN OUT OF FUEL. THE FUEL GAUGE IS NOT ACCURATE AT ALL NOW. I AM UNSURE WHAT LEVEL OF FUEL I'M AT. FROM MY SEARCHES FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET, I HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE ON ALL HARLEY V-ROD MODELS FROM 2008 TO CURRENT MODEL YEARS. I ALSO HAVE READ THAT HARLEY HAS MADE A DESIGN CHANGE TO THE FUEL SENDING UNIT BUT HAS NOT CHANGED THE PART NUMBER. LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THEY ARE TRYING TO COVER UP THE DESIGN CHANGE FOR COST REASONS. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 3000 MILES ON IT. *TR

THE SPEEDOMETER BOUNCES AND DOES NOT GIVE AN ACCURATE READ OUT. I WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL BY HARLEY DAVIDSON IN BELLMORE, NY. I HAVE ASKED ABOUT IT NUMEROUS TIMES AND NOW MY WARRANTY IS OUT SO IT WILL NOT BE COVERED. *JS

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
