What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2011 Harley-Davidson Vrscdx, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words

THE SPEEDOMETER BOUNCES AND DOES NOT GIVE AN ACCURATE READ OUT. I WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL BY HARLEY DAVIDSON IN BELLMORE, NY. I HAVE ASKED ABOUT IT NUMEROUS TIMES AND NOW MY WARRANTY IS OUT SO IT WILL NOT BE COVERED. *JS

I RAN OUT OF FUEL WHILE RIDING MY MOTORCYCLE ON THE EXPRESS WAY IN A CURVE. ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE MOTORCYCLE. THE CAUSE OF ME RUNNING OUT OF GAS WAS BECAUSE MY FUEL GAUGE WAS NOT CORRECT. THE GAUGE READ 3/4 TANK FULL WHEN IT RAN OUT OF FUEL. THE FUEL GAUGE IS NOT ACCURATE AT ALL NOW. I AM UNSURE WHAT LEVEL OF FUEL I'M AT. FROM MY SEARCHES FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE INTERNET, I HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON OCCURRENCE ON ALL HARLEY V-ROD MODELS FROM 2008 TO CURRENT MODEL YEARS. I ALSO HAVE READ THAT HARLEY HAS MADE A DESIGN CHANGE TO THE FUEL SENDING UNIT BUT HAS NOT CHANGED THE PART NUMBER. LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THEY ARE TRYING TO COVER UP THE DESIGN CHANGE FOR COST REASONS. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 3000 MILES ON IT. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
