The defect: Harbor Freight Tools (Harbor Freight) is recalling certain model year 2006-2016 Haul Master trailers, model numbers 90154, 42708, 90153, 66771, 42709, 94564 trailers, and 2013-2016 Haul Master trailers, model numbers 62170, 62209, 61730, and 69897. The affected trailers may be equipped with incorrectly positioned rear lamp brackets that may not illuminate the license plate. The lights fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The risk: The trailers may be less visible to other drivers, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.
The remedy: Harbor Freight will notify owners and will provide them with a new tail light package, free of charge. The recall began on October 10, 2016. Owners may contact Harbor Freight customer service at 1-805-388-1000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 (NA) HARBOR FREIGHT HAUL MASTER TRAILER AND TOOLS EQUIPPED WITH TRAILER 5 LUG TIRES, SIZE: 5.3X12 (NA). THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V638000 (TIRES); HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER AND TOOLS OF DOWNERS GROVE IN DOWNERS GROVE, ILLINOIS WERE CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE DOT NUMBER AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1992 FORD VAN WHICH WAS PULLING A HARBOR FREIGHT HAUL MASTER 4X8 TRAILER. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR FENDER HAD SEPARATED FROM THE TRAILER AND THE DRIVER SIDE FENDER HAD CRACKED AND WAS UNSECURED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TRAILER YEAR WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT APPLICABLE.
