The defect: The Heil Co. (Heil) is recalling certain 2021-2022 front end loader garbage trucks. The vertical welds on the automatic front loader (AFL) arm may be missing, causing the arm to crack and fall.
The risk: A falling arm increases the risk of injury.
The remedy: Heil will inspect and repair or replace the AFL arm as necessary, free of charge. All affected trucks were repaired by July 28, 2023. Owners may contact Heil's customer service at 1-866-275-4345.

This Service Bulletin is for all Half/Pack® Automated Front Loader (“AFL”) units that may have missing vertical welds on the AFL arms. If some welds are determined to be missing after inspection, follow the proper welding installation steps listed in this Service Bulletin.

All 2022 Half/Pack® units using the sump kit 102-0009-005 or 402-00100-003 must be inspected fo rmissing welds. If missing welds are identified, proper installation of a side sump plate must be performed to prevent liquids from leaking out of the body.
