2016 Highland Ridge Fw 3X Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 HIGHLAND RIDGE 3X TRAILER HITCHED TO A 2011 RAM 2500. THE CONTACT WAS EXPERIENCING BRAKING FAILURES ON THE CAMPER. WHILE REVERSING INTO THE DRIVEWAY ON A MUDDY SURFACE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO IMMEDIATELY STOP THE TRUCK OR THE CAMPER. AS A RESULT, THE TRUCK AND CAMPER SLID IN THE MUD AND STRUCK SOME TREE BRANCHES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CAMPER WAS TAKEN TO BUTLER RV CENTER (196 PITTSBURGH RD, BUTLER, PA 16001, (724) 282-4056), BUT NO FAILURE WITH THE BRAKES COULD BE FOUND. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE DUE TO THE BRAKE CONTROLLER IN THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO SMOUSE TRAILERS & SNOW EQUIPMENT (207 SMOUSE RD, MT PLEASANT, PA 15666, (724) 887-7777) WHERE A FAILURE COULD NOT BE FOUND WITH THE BRAKE CONTROLLER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE CAMPER HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS FOR THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE BRAKES WERE ADJUSTED AND IT WAS FOUND THAT THE DRUMS HAD BEEN OVERLY GREASED. THE DEALER HAD REPAIRED ALL ISSUES FOUND WITH THE BRAKES, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE REPLACED TWICE ON THE TRUCK, DUE TO THE BRAKING FAILURE WITH THE TRUCK AND CAMPER HITCHED TOGETHER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT SINCE HE WAS EXPERIENCING FAILURES WITH THE CAMPER'S BRAKES AND OTHER ISSUES, THE CAMPER WAS SENT TO THE HIGHLAND RIDGE MANUFACTURER (HIGHLAND RIDGE RV, INC., 3195 IN-5, SHIPSHEWANA, IN 46565). THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF THE BRAKE FAILURES WERE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER SINCE HE WAS STILL EXPERIENCING ISSUES. THE VIN FOR THE 2011 RAM 2500 WAS UNAVAILABLE. THERE WAS NO FAILURE MILEAGE FOR THE TRAILER.
