2012 Holiday Rambler Ambassador Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 2 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2012 Holiday Rambler Ambassador. WE WERE DRIVING OUR HOLIDAY RAMBLER AMBASSADOR 2012 36 FOOT DIESEL MOTORHOME ON A TRIP. AT THE END OF A DRIVING DAY, A WARNING LIGHT (REGEN) CAME ON. TRIED TO RUN A REGEN PER THE MANUAL, BUT CONDITIONS DID NOT ALLOW. THE NEXT DAY, STARTED FINE, NO WARNING LIGHT SO CONTINUED TO TRAVEL. AFTER LESS THEN A MILE, THE LIGHT CAME ON, THE ENGINE STOPPED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. HAD TO BE TOWED OVER 50 MILES TO A REPAIR LOCATION. AFTER SOME TRIAL AND ERROR, FINALLY GOT A QUALIFIED DIESEL MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THE PROBLEM. HE REPLACED 3 DEFECTIVE PARTS; THE EGR VALVE, EMI VALVE AND KT VALVE (AFTER ONLY 28,000 PLUS MILES ON OUR INTERNATIONAL DIESEL ENGINE!) THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO PROPERLY RUN A REGENERATION AND WE WERE ONCE AGAIN ABLE TO TRAVEL. OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY WE PURCHASED OF COURSE CLEVERLY INCLUDED THE 'EMISSION COMPONENTS' IN THE EXCLUSION CATEGORY EVEN THOUGH WE WERE LEFT IN A VERY VULNERABLE SITUATION. WE THEN HAD TO HANDLE THE COMPLETE BILL FOR REPAIR AND A 4 DAY DELAY.
