WHILE DRIVING NORTH ON I-81 IN WESTERN VIRGINIA, THE VEHICLE, 2006 ROADTREK ADVENTUROUS, SPRINTER 2500, DIESEL POWERED MERCEDES BENZ ENGINE WITH APPROXIMATELY 11,500 MILES INDICATED, SUDDENLY BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. INCREASING ACCELERATOR PRESSURE ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO MAINTAIN APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHILE HILL CLIMBING, DOWN HILL AND LEVEL GROUND ALLOWED SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. VEHICLE WAS STOPPED FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES AND TRIP RESUMED, FULL POWER FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES AND THEN REDUCED POWER CONDITION RETURNED. WHILE NO PROPERTY DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY OCCURRED, HIGH-SPEED TRAFFIC TRAFFIC APPROACHING FROM THE REAR RESULTED IN NUMEROUS VEHICLES HAVING TO BRAKE TO AVOID COLLISION. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SAFFORD DODGE, FREDERICKSBURG VA -- CAUSE OF POWER LOSE WAS DETERMINED TO BE TURBO-RESONATOR FAILURE (PART NUMBER 5137154AA). REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. *NM
