2018 Honda Accord Other / unspecified Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the other system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Other / unspecified reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle began to brake independently. The contact stated that the hill start assist failure, traction control, ACC, brakes, stability control, Collision mitigation, and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the EZ Pass sensor, the battery, and e-brake switch needed to be replaced. The battery was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 29,000.

I bought this vehicle 8-25-2021. It had 22,000 miles on it. It now has 46,000 miles on it. I was feeling a vibration while driving. 7-31-2022 coming back from Louisiana into Texas I had a flat. When my husband removed the back tire to place the spare on, the tire was absolutely eaten up on the inside wall. There were chunks of rubber missing from the tire and we looked at other rear tire and it was worn beyond repair. I took my car 8-1-2023 to have 2 new back tires replaced and get an alignment, which has to be all wheel alignment due to front wheel drive. I was told that the rear camber had gone out. They quoted me $1000 to repair. I drive 40 miles one way to work Monday through Friday all highway. I do not drive over the speed limit and do not hit pot holes or curbs. Nowhere in my manual is there a schedule for alignment. I will attach a picture of the tires that were taken off 8-1-2022. This very upsetting and dangerous. I would think that a part that serious would last longer than 46,000 miles. And no one can align the tires do to this camber being broken. I don’t have the money to replace tires that often due to a defect on Honda America. I have read numerous posts from other Honda owners having this same issue. Thank you for your time and consideration. Have a blessed day.

The vehicle fell from jack during roadside tire change. Vehicle was lifted according to instructions in manual. Jacking equipment very lightweight. I was forced to obtain roadside assistance to compete tire change. Jacking equipment is too lightweight for the weight of the car.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System repeatedly indicates low tire pressure. Issue has existed since automobile purchase. Dealer has repeatedly reset the system only to have the TPMS system repeat the warning (four days after most recent reset). Dealer has been unable to resolve the repeated warnings. I feel this system is not measuring the intended tire pressure values properly as the tires have not been underinflated when the warnings activate. The safety system is not operating properly.

A FEW MONTHS I STARTED HAVE A PROBLEM WITHE THE MY CAR .I LET MY CAR FOR SHORT TIME LIKE LESS THAN ONE HOUR WITH THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON ..BUT THE ENGINE WAS OFF (THE CAR WAS STATIONARY). SO WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO LEAVE FROM THE PLACE WHERE I WERE I STAR THE ENGINE AND IT DIDN'T WORK AND ALL THE LIGHT GO ON LIKE CRAZY AND 3 MESSAGE SHOWED ON THE SCREEN THAT SAID IT WAS SAFETY TO DRIVE AND THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE BREAK SYSTEM PROBLEM , ANTI-BREAK SYSTEM PROBLEM AND TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM. SO I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MAYBE IT WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE BATTERY SO THEY TOLD TO TURN OFF AND TURN THE ENGINE ON AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME THAT HE DRIVES IT FOR A CERTAIN TIME AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH GO OUT AND SINCE MAYBE IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE HIGH TEMPERATURES WE HAD. BUT IT WAS LIKE THAT I MEAN THE CAR IS STILL RUNNING "GOOD" BUT I'M NOT FELL SAFETY .I ALREADY TOOK THE THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT AND FIRST TIME THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE ALL THE LIGHT GO OUT SO THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T FOUND ANYTHING SO THE SECOND TIME THE HAPPENED THE SAME THING I RECORDED A VIDEO AND PHOTOS SO I SHOW THEM AN THE WAY THE STAR DOING A FULL CHECK OF EVERYTHING SO THEY DIDN'T FOUND ANY THING AND STILL APPEARS THOSE 3 MESSAGE A WHEN I STAR THE ENGINE NOT ALL THE TIME BUT THEY DIDN'T FIXED ANYTHING AND THEY DON'T WANT TO CHANGE FOR R ANOTHER CAR ..I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO

AT 49,000 MILES I'M ON MY SECOND SET OF TIRES AND NEEDING A NEW SET. MY SERVICEMAN RECOMMENDED I ADD A CAMBER KIT TO MY CAR IN THE REAR (REAR WHEELS) OR I'LL HAVE TO KEEP REPLACING MY TIRES. THIS IS GETTING VERY EXPENSIVE. I HAVE MY TIRES CHECKED AND ROTATED EVERY OIL CHANGE.

WHEEL WELLS BUILDING UP WITH ICE/SNOW CAUSING VEHICLE TO VIBRATE WHILE OPERATING (LIKE OUT OF ALIGNMENT) AND HINDERING THE TURNING OF THE VEHICLE LEFT OR RIGHT BECAUSE TIRES ARE HITTING THE ICE/SNOW BUILDUP ON WHEEL WELL.THE TIRES WHEN COLD ALSO BEHAVE AS IF ROAD IS SLIPPERY, BOTH IN ACCERALATION/STOPPING EVEN THOUGH ROAD MAY BE DRY. THIS OCCURS IN COLD TEMPERATURES ONLY. DEALERSHIP STATES THAT THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE OTHER THAN TO DRIVE VEHICLE INTO A HEATED GARAGE TO ALLOW ICE/SNOW BUILDUP TO MELT OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE TRAVELING 15-20 MILES IN SNOW CONDITIONS AND THE WHEEL WELL IS FULL OF SNOW AND THE TIRES ARE MAKING CONTACT WITH THIS SNOW WHICH WILL AFFECT THE TIRES AS WELL. NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN SHARPLY LEFT AND RIGHT IS DANGEROUS NOT ALLOWING DRIVER TO TAKE CORRECTIVE ACTION NEED BE. TIRES APPEAR TO BE DANGEROUS IN COLD TEMPERATURES BECAUSE AFTER THEY WARM UP, THEY OPERATE OKAY. HOWEVER WHEN COLD, THE SLIP AND SLIDE BEHAVING LIKE YOU ARE ON ICY ROADS EVEN THOUGH ROAD IS DRY. TOOK TO DEALER TODAY.ADDITIONAL PICTURES AND THE INVOICE FROM DEALERSHIP AVAILABLE
