What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2011 Honda CBR250R, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.
Reports by component
Ranked by how many owner reports name each component category
- Engine571.4%
- Electrical114.3%
- Powertrain (other)114.3%
Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.
Each component in detail
What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim
ENGINE STOPS/DIES WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. WILL NOT RESTART RELIABLY. WHEN IT DOES RESTART, IT CONTINUES TO STOP RUNNING
WHEN RIDING, IN ALL CONDITIONS, AND WITH A FREQUENCY OF 3 OR MORE TIMES PER WEEK, THE ENGINE WILL CUT OFF WHEN THE CLUTCH IS PULLED IN. THIS REQUIRES ME TO RESTART THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING, MOST TIMES IT IS CONTROLLABLE HOWEVER IT IS ALARMING AS IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED MOSTLY AT SPEEDS IN THE RANGE OF 30-45 MPH.

From owner reports, verbatim
INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING BLINKS WHILE OPERATING; THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FADES IN AND OUT WHILE OPERATING. NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CANNOT SEE MPH OR FUEL REMAINING.

THIS HAS OCCURRED ABOUT 10-15 TIMES OVER 7000 MILES. PULL THE CLUTCH IN, DOWNSHIFT, ENGINE DIES BEFORE I HAVE A CHANCE TO RE-ENGAGE THE CLUTCH. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
