Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2008 Honda CR-V. The contact discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy after the purchase. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of the purchase, the mileage was 137,000. It was later discovered upon registering the vehicle with the DMV that the mileage was 255,000.

The contact referenced an unknown Technical Service Bulletin with a similar failure; however, the contact was informed that the TSB had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under an unknown recall because the recall had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.

Hello, I have a recall for the corrosion on my Honda CRV 2008, American Honda already has everything on file from the dealer ship I took to get it inspected and is been a whole month and American Honda hasn’t reached out to me. I have been asking American Honda if I could get a loaner car or rental as the service manager at the dealership has said he cannot provide a rental until American Honda authorized since obviously some one has to pay for it. And I’m just reaching out if you guys could help me anyway to help me get this sorted out, dealership has already told me the car is un repairable at this point due to the bad corrosion and American Honda has acknowledged that and said someone from the median department or something like that was gonna reach out to me that was 2 weeks ago and I have reached out a week ago and they said someone would reach out and I have not received anything as I have told them, I really need a car since I recently had my baby and you know I need to come to work and go back home. VIN [XXX] , but previous owner never went to the recall and I bought the car in 2014 and recently, during a brake job, I first became aware of the problem when my mechanic alerted me to the recall situation and the rusting out that was putting drivers in a very dangerous situation. My car failed the recall because of the rust causing the degradation of the rear suspension trailing arm, and now I'm left with a car not fit to drive? and I would be liable for whatever happens but I was never offered a solution to buy the car back something to help and I cannot be without one to get to Dr’s or buy food live rural I have no choice living alone at [XXX] need a car. So a question, why am I the problem? when, in the first place, the car was dangerous from the manufacturer to the rusting out situation which was actually life threatening, lose steering, the wheel could collapse or the frame itself, and again, never offered any help at all some compensation, nothing? Just drive it home with the burden of the liability etc. I’m on a Fixed income of only $800 a month how am I to survive living rural without a car at my age? Please, I need some help. The contact filled the power steering fluid reservoir; however, two days later, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the passenger’s side front ball joints were replaced, the power steering kit was installed, and the drive belt was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,500.

The vehicle lost motive power and shut off. The contact stated that after five minutes, the vehicle was restarted; however, while driving at an undisclosed speed the vehicle inadvertently shut off. The contact was eventually able to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle operated as designed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 180,290.

A/C compressor in 2007-2011 Honda CR-V has a known defect in the A/C compressor clutch. The clutch component of the compressor includes the pulley which turns the compressor motor. When the clutch fails, the compressor motor seizes up and stops the pulley from turning. The pulley on the compressor is driven by one serpentine belt on a tensioner which turns the alternator, the power steering motor, the crankshaft, the water pump, and the A/C compressor. When the A/C compressor seizes up, the belt will snap in two every time because the A/C pulley will not turn. The car will not be operable unless the A/C compressor is replaced. To replace the A/C compressor, the refrigerant must be vacuumed out, the condenser and desiccant replaced, the compressor replaced, the system recharged, and a new belt put on. This costs about $2500 at Honda or at another shop around $1700. Honda refused to fix the clutch when I took my car in after discovering the A/C was not working. I have replaced the compressor in this vehicle twice already, and now it needs a third replacement. It is a safety issue because the belt will break while driving causing power steering to go out, possibly causing a crash, the battery will not charge, leaving you stranded, the water pump will not function causing your engine to overheat, and possibly causing a blown head gasket or worse. This situation has occurred twice already but I’m reporting the latest one.

My car failed the annual Massachusetts State safety inspection done on XXX. The areas of failure were FRAME, FRONT END, and MUFFLER/EXHAUST. I was advised to not drive the car due to risk of frame failure due to extensive rust. I then brought vehicle to Atamian Honda ([XXX]) on XXX pursuant to Honda Service Bulleting (Recall) 23-032. The dealer contacted me later that day to tell me that the car was ready. The Service Concierge told me: (1) The car is ready as they did the recall. (2) The Technician said that the rust and rot was so sever that they could not put the car on a lift. (3) They could not complete the Multi Point Inspection due to the rust. (4) The technician advised me to not drive the car due to the condition causing an unsafe vehicle. I went to the dealer to sign off on the invoice and arranged a tow of the Honda to my home, as I did not want to risk driving in it. I opened a Case with Honda Corporate to claim that, despite the dealer's Recall being processed, that protocols of the Recall process were not followed; specifically, there are 2 fundamental actions that are required in order to properly process this Recall: completion of the MPI(Multi Point Inspection) and the placement of the car on a lift. Neither of these were done. Honda Corporate contacted me on XXX and, despite my claim on case number XXX, their position is that the dealer performed the Recall. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who was unable to fix the vehicle under NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V228000 (Structure); because parts were not available, and there were additional damages that needed to be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and was working with the dealer to have the vehicle inspected. The failure mileage was unknown. Parts distribution disconnect.

WHEN CAR DOORS LOCK IT MAKES A LOUD NOISE AND DRIVER DOOR DOES NOT LOCK. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A DEFECT IN LOCKS/SENSORS. IT IS VERY UNSAFE TO HAVE A CAR THAT DOES NOT LOCK.

REQUIRED NEW REAR BRAKE PADS AFTER ONLY 14,000 MILES OF USAGE

BRAKES BECAME SPONGY. HONDA DEALER SAID THE ABS MODULATOR SEEMS TO BE FAILING. $1500-2000 WITHOUT LABOR AND IT MAY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. WE BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS. IT IS A CONTINUING ISSUE. OUR CRV IS PARKED AT THIS TIME.

This vehicle had a wheel separation while traveling at low speed. The right rear wheel separated from the car. The cause is excessive rust to the trailing arm and specifically to the subframe to which the trailing arm is attached. The car is available for inspection. I also have photographs that show the problem. The safety issue is clear. After separation the car cannot be controlled if in motion. This particular vehicle has not been inspected. The wheel separation was reported by me to Honda in North America, to "Chris" in "client relations." A case number was issued for my complaint, #00499145. An insurance claim was made, but the insurer denied the claim. My research shows that this model CRV has been recalled in Canada for this precise problem. In Canada, Honda states that this model CRV has "excessive" rust, leading to failure. Further, that the problem is not readily apparent on inspection, and in fact this car is inspected annually as part of North Carolina licensure, and no inspection ever revealed the excessive rust threat. Here is the Honda press release: " January 23, 2019 Honda has voluntarily recalled approximately 83,953 2007-2011 CR-V vehicles in Canada to address potential excessive corrosion to the rear frame stiffener(s). On affected vehicles, one or both rear frame stiffener(s) may become excessively corroded over time. Such excessive corrosion may be more prevalent where a vehicle is regularly operated in regions where road de-icing salt is frequently used during the winter season. Although a certain amount of corrosion is expected to occur from everyday operation of the vehicle, excessive corrosion to the rear frame may result in frame stiffener perforation and, in extreme cases, cause the rear-trailing arm to separate from the vehicle’s frame structure. A separated rear-trailing arm may cause the vehicle to be difficult to control, increasing the risk of a crash."

hit from rear and seat belt popped out of housing and stripped or extended all the way out. Will not retract, major injury to right breast.

All 5 automatic door locks failed to open causing me to be locked inside the car. After many minutes and retrying the key fob I was able to exit via the front passenger door. Later that same day once returning home I was locked out of all 5 doors. The car was towed and the left front door and right rear door actuators were replaced. These had previously been recalled and replaced on extended warrenty in 2015. The failure of the locks this last week are acutally the Honda approved replacements. The problem was reproduced by the repairing garage. Odd sounds from the doors had been heard prior to the breakdown.

I PURCHASED 4 NEW TIRES FROM LES SCHWAB ON 11-29-17 (102T ROAD CONTROL NW3 ALL SEASONS BW TIRES). SEVEN MONTHS LATER, ON 6-20-18, ONE OF THE TIRES BLEW OUT. I HAD DRIVEN FOR 1-1/2 HOURS IN 80 DEGREE WEATHER, AND WAS IDLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WHEN THE TIRE BLEW (LOUD EXPLOSION). I DIDN'T HAVE ANY WARNING. THE TIRE WAS SPLIT OR SEPARATED NEAR THE RIM. THE TIRE HAD BEEN INFLATED CORRECTLY AND WAS OTHERWISE IN GOOD CONDITION. THERE HADN'T BEEN ANY CASES OF IMPACT TO THE TIRE OR AN OVERLOADED CAR. I DIDN'T SUFFER ANY DAMAGE, BECAUSE I WAS VERY LUCKY TO NOT BE ON THE FREEWAY. LES SCHWAB REPLACED THE TIRE FOR FREE, AS IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I ASKED WHAT THEY THINK HAPPENED TO THE TIRE, BECAUSE I'M CONCERNED ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT I MIGHT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE REMAINING 3 TIRES, AND THEY DIDN'T RESPOND.

CAR WAS PARKED. WE WERE IN AND OUT OF THE VEHICLE, HEARD A POP. LOOKED AND THE SUNROOF WAS DEFORMED OUTWARD/SEVERE CURVATURE IN THE SUNROOF. LOOKED INSIDE FROM UNDERNEATH AND SUN ROOF WAS SHATTERED. NATURALLY WHEN DRIVING BACK AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT CONTINUED TO BREAK AWAY UNTIL WE COULD DUCT TAPE IT AND DRIVE 400 MILES HOME. DEALERSHIP TRIED TO BLAME 'A ROCK' I CALLED B.S. ON THAT. GIVEN WE OWN THREE HONDA'S THEY FIXED IT ON WARRANTY.

A NEWLY PURCHASED HONDA CRV 4WD 2008 MODEL IN MANILA. DRIVING WAS PRACTICALLY IMMOBILIZED WHEN MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP(MIL), VEHICLE STABILITY ASSIST (VSA) LIGHT,VSA ACTIVATION LIGHT, AND ABS LIGHT WERE ILLUMINATED WAS AN ABNORMAL GEAR ENGAGEMENT, WE WERE NEARLY HIT FROM BEHIND BECAUSE OF DELAYED, SHORT-INTERMITTENT ENGINE ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
