What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2013 Honda NC700X, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

2013 HONDA NC700XDA, 13,000 MI: MY MOTORCYCLE IS UNUSUAL IN THAT IT'S AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I CAME OUT OF THE GYM, STARTED MY MOTORCYCLE, PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. TRAFFIC FROM BEHIND HAD TO SWERVE AROUND ME BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE FASTER THAN 25 MI/HR AND UNABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. I'VE OWNED THIS MOTORCYCLE FOR SINCE APRIL 2015; I KNOW AND UNDERSTAND ALL THE DIFFERENT MODES OF SHIFTING. I HAD TO RIDE HOME 6 MILES AT 20 MI/HR GETTING ON/OFF ROAD TO AVOID TRAFFIC FROM BEHIND. ACCORDING TO HONDA MOTORCYCLE BLOG SITES, MANY RIDERS ARE EXPERIENCING SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THIS TYPE OF TRANSMISSION (WWW.NC700.CO.UK AND THE LIKE). THE PROBLEM DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE MECHANICAL, BUT ELECTRICAL INSTEAD. I FOLLOWED AN ELECTRICAL RESET PROCEDURE AND IT NOW SHIFTS GEARS, BUT THE DISPLAY DOESN'T CORRECTLY SHOW WHICH TRANSMISSION MODE. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED AND WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I HOPE NO ONE GETS RUN OVER FROM BEHIND BECAUSE THEY'RE UNAWARE THAT THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 25 MI/HR.
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
