I went to open back tailgate with key fob, no sound or anything - tailgate did not open. I tried inside vehicle buttons for back tailgate and would not respond - no sounds or anything. Nothing was obstructing the back gate on the outside or interior of vehicle to prevent it from opening. I found a video of a 2021 Odyssey having water leaks into the car from the sliding door and rusts the power module causing it to short. So, my husband opened the back fuse box and got into the back panel and removed and sure enough there is water damage to the module. It is about $400 to replace and it is only a Honda dealership part. This is a safety issue because there is no way to manually open back tailgate in case of an emergency. If water is slowly leaking and causing corrosion, this needs to be fixed by Honda.

I am reporting a recurring and dangerous failure of the infotainment system and electrical control in my vehicle. The following issues occur intermittently but frequently: Safety Camera Failure: The center display screen often goes black, causing the backup camera and side-view cameras to fail completely. This occurs while the vehicle is in reverse, creating a significant blind-spot hazard and risk of collision. I specifically visited the dealership in early June 2025 to inquire about this issue—and I have video evidence to prove it—yet the electronic fault "magically disappeared" (an intermittent issue) when the vehicle was inspected on-site. Despite this, the dealership still charged me a $300 diagnostic fee. Total System Freeze: The GPS navigation, audio system, and all center console controls frequently stop responding or shut down entirely while driving, causing significant driver distraction. Power Management Defect: Most critically, the infotainment system and audio often fail to shut off even after the engine is turned off and the vehicle is locked. This parasitic draw continues until the 12V battery is completely drained, leaving the vehicle stranded and potentially creating an electrical fire hazard. On 03/20/2026, the infotainment system failed to shut down after the engine was turned off, which completely drained the battery. I had to call AAA for roadside assistance to tow/jump-start the vehicle to the dealership. I have a video recording of the system staying powered on while the vehicle was off. Furthermore, I just replaced the 12V battery with a brand new one in February 2026, confirming that this is a parasitic draw caused by a vehicle defect and not a faulty battery. I am unable to upload videos here, but I reserve the right to present them.

When driving the ac will turn down by itself and when coming to a complete stop the car will put itself in park and the engine will shut off completely. The brake light and engine and battery light will come and the car will restart itself and stay in park or I will sometimes have to restart the car myself. The brake light started to flash on 4/16/2026. I purchased the car on 12/18/2025 to finance . The vehicle will slow down and jerk back and forth when driving at a normal speed .

The idle start stop feature constantly doesn’t work on our 2022 Honda Odyssey Touring. When stopped at a light or stop sign the engine will turn off COMPLETELY, causing me to have to put the car in park and restart the car. Also, sometimes the van will start, sometimes it won't. I replaced the battery and now it starts but it is still turning itself off in traffic. There have been several incidents where this is during rush hour traffic causing traffic jams and we have been very close to being rear ended. Sometimes I have to wait a few minutes before it will actually turn over. This is EXTREMELY unsafe and should be addressed by Honda with a FREE fix for all owners. I've taken it to the dealership and, after scanning my VIN, told that my specific Odyssey doesn't have any open recalls or service bulletins... Seems every other Odyssey does, just not mine? For the EXACT SAME PROBLEM???

The liftgate on my vehicle stopped functioning in March 2024, one month after the warranty expired. On June 24, 2025, the vehicle underwent a power tailgate unit replacement and water leak repair at Ocean Honda of Brockton. Water had leaked into the tailgate unit and caused it to short out. The total cost for this repair was $1,776.18. I have attached a copy of the paid service repair summary and proof of payment. My primary concern, beyond the financial burden, is the inherent safety risk posed by this malfunction. As a parent of three children, we specifically chose the Honda Odyssey for its reputation for safety and reliability as a family vehicle. A power tailgate unit that can fail due to water infiltration presents a serious hazard, as it could cause the tailgate to unexpectedly open while the vehicle is in motion. This could lead to items falling out onto the road, creating a dangerous road hazard for other drivers, or potentially compromising the safety of passengers if the vehicle is involved in an accident. Right before the tailgate stopped working, we noticed a "low battery" warning upon starting the van. This is probably due to the electrical short. I sent a letter to American Honda Motor Company on July 2, 2025, detailing the issue, but have yet to hear a response.

On October 31, 2025, I brought my vehicle to the dealer for several issues, including an Auto Engine Idle Stop System problem, a memory seat malfunction, and other concerns that were discussed with the service advisor and are listed in the invoice. I was charged almost $1,000, including a new battery. Initially, some of the problems appeared to be resolved, but shortly after the service, the Auto Engine Idle Stop System problem reappeared, and the memory seat stopped working again. Even more concerning, a new and dangerous issue began immediately after the repair: while driving at night, the headlights suddenly turn off for a few seconds and then turn back on, and the “Auto Engine Idle Stop System Problem” warning appears at the same time. This issue never occurred before the dealer performed the repair. This situation is extremely unsafe, especially when driving in dark conditions with my family. I contacted the dealership through their “Contact Us” form on November 2, 2025, and again via live chat on November 5, 2025. I was told that someone would reach out to me, but as of November 9, 2025, I have received no response.

Suddenly, all electric shut off including the engine. We fully engaged the brake and restarted the vehicle. This vehicle has also given low battery warnings right after engine is turned off but stereo etc remain on before the driver door is opened. The battery is less than a year old. Vehicle is available for inspection, traffic safety was a concern, we have not taken it to a dealer yet, and no one has inspected this yet.

Bought our 2022 Honda Odyssey in November of 2021. Vehicle has the Idle/Stop feature. That feature never worked properly. Always said, warming up or charging and didn't work. Recently, June 7, 2025 my wife driving was at the light with the stop feature activated, she took her foot off the brake for it to start up and it was shifting weird. Happened several times. On June 11, 2025, I was at a light and when I let my foot of the brake for the feature to start the vehicle, the vehicle stalled and I couldn't get it in gear. Eventually it went in gear. I could've gotten into an accident. I called the dealership on June 11, 2025 to make an appointment. After seeing something else on the news about a recall, I decided to look up my issue. I found that there is an investigation and lawsuits about it. I had no idea. I had no idea a letter was sent to owners. I NEVER received it!! I looked at my service records and on February 15, 2024, at an oil change, the dealership fixed a recall per Honda for Auto Start and says UPDATED. My vehicle is still having issues.

Honda issued a recall of the MOST Bus Network which was done on my vehicle on 7/21/23. However, recently the vehicle started making static noise from the speakers whether the radio was on or not and eventually displayed a "Network Communication error MOST Network Off" error screen on the display temporarily. During these outages the display is completely unavailable and presents a hazard since the rear camera is unavailable. Since the display reboots and only happens intermittently the dealer was unable to reproduce the error and believes the vehicle is "operating to Honda specifications." Despite the fact that we have photos and videos of this issue occurring multiple times! This is a known issue in multiple other year/make/models of Honda vehicles which were eventually recalled. Clearly they have not corrected the issue in the 2022 Honda Odyssey and should be subject to dealer recall and replaced and repaired.

I am writing to file a safety complaint about the 2022 Honda Odyssey Elite concerning critical infotainment and electrical system failures that present significant safety risks. These failures include power cycling, freezing, and complete system shutdowns, which impair essential vehicle functions like navigation, climate control, and communication. The random nature of the failures makes it difficult for technicians to replicate the problem, but it occurs intermittently while driving. Normally, the infotainment system just fails, requiring the car to be parked and power cycled, including opening and closing a door. On one occasion, the vehicle catastrophically failed during operation and would not restart. The car had to be towed to the dealer, but when it arrived, it was able to start without any jump-start. The dealer stated they could not replicate the issue so there was nothing that would be done beyond replacing the battery.

The Anti-Theft System on the car randomly looses power. This causes the car's power to cut out when you are slowing down and apply the brakes to stop. Once the power cuts, you have to wait about 30 seconds before the ignition Start button illuminates again to restart the car. Once you restart the car the screen on the center dash (stereo/navigation screen) states the Anti-Theft System lost power and you must push the power button in on the stereo for a few seconds to reset it. When it occurs while at a stop sign, traffic signal or during stop and go traffic, other drivers have to wait for you to reset the car so you can proceed and get out of the way. When it occurs during parking, you get out of the car and when you attempt to lock the car it will not since the system lost power. You have to get back in the car, restart it, reset the Anti-Theft system, stop the car and then get out to lock it. With this issue, the system loosing power while in the flow of traffic is a safety hazard. This issue did not start to occur until after my Honda was serviced and had its system updated for the Auto Start safety recall.

Fire department came, stated the fire seemed electrical in nature; do not have fire department report yet. Plastic and surrounding area are melted from the fire. Vehicle is currently sitting at mechanics lot waiting to hear back from Honda; insurance told us to wait to hear back from Honda before they would do anything. Called the Honda Customer Care on the date of the incident and have still not heard back from them; have called multiple times and they say we are in a queue and there’s nothing they can do until our case reaches the top of the queue. While in stop and go traffic on I-75/85 through downtown Atlanta today, my 2022 Odyssey locked up. The dash indicated a battery problem and advised braking and finding a shoulder, however my engine had cut off and the vehicle would not respond when I attempted to follow the directions given. With my hazard lights on I attempted to turn off/on my engine and place the vehicle in Park without success. It would not restart until I turned off the AIS and put my van in PARK in the middle of the Interstate to finally turn back on. I am a skilled driver with ample engine knowledge and even then was barely able to avoid collision because the vehicle was completely incapacitated. Honda KNOWS this is a problem (I learned after my incident today) and need to find a remedy before someone gets killed.

2022 Honda Odyssey:When the auto-off or whatever it is called engages when you put your foot on the brake at a red light or stop sign and the engine turns off, it is supposed to restart the engine when you take your foot off the brake. That feature is causing issues on average of one time per day where the engine does not turn back on. The van loses all power, red battery light comes on, and the dash gives an alert to put it part and restart the van. It eventually restarts but with wife and 3 kids in van on the highway, this is not safe as other vehicles almost hit us because they do not know the van died.
