2026 Honda Passport Interior & seats Problems

The driver’s front seat has an internal manufacturing defect causing severe physical pain and numbness, creating a hazardous distraction and impacting my ability to safely operate the vehicle. While operating my 2026 Honda Passport, the driver's front seat induces intense pressure and localized pain against my tailbone and lower back within 20 to 30 minutes of driving. Investigation reveals a known community design flaw where a rigid internal component or improperly fitted seat ventilation hardware creates a hard, localized ridge right at the cushion junction. The sudden onset of severe tailbone pain and lower extremity numbness forces me to constantly shift body weight and alter my seating posture while the vehicle is in motion. This causes an extreme, continuous driver distraction, delays my reaction time to brake or steer, and makes maintaining proper vehicle control difficult during extended highway travel. I have had to resort to using aftermarket padding that alters my driving height and position, potentially compromising the engineered effectiveness of the vehicle's airbag and seatbelt safety systems. The vehicle was taken to an authorized Honda dealership for inspection. The service department turned me away, despite several others concurring that they can feel the presence of the intrusion. I’ve sat in several other Honda Passport Trailsports where the same seat defect is not present. I was informed by Honda that the seat is built "within factory specifications," meaning the design flaw cannot be corrected by swapping standard components.

I would like to register a formal complaint regarding the front seats in my 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport Elite. The seat ventilation system creates significant discomfort around the tailbone, making it extremely difficult to tolerate drives of any meaningful length. I did not raise this concern sooner because my wife typically drives the vehicle and had accepted the discomfort as “normal.” It is not normal. I recently drove the vehicle to a store only 1.5 miles away, and by the time I arrived, the pressure and discomfort on my tailbone were already difficult to tolerate. This issue is not merely uncomfortable; it is a significant distraction for the driver and, in my opinion, a safety concern. A premium trim vehicle should not create this kind of problem. If anything, it should provide a high level of comfort. I have contacted the dealer where I purchased the vehicle, but their only proposed solution has been for me to trade it in for another new vehicle, which would leave me at a financial disadvantage. I believe Honda should recognize this as a design flaw and offer affected customers an appropriate remedy, such as replacement seats that resolve the issue or compensation that would allow customers to purchase aftermarket seats that do not have this problem.

I purchased a Honda Passport Trailsport Elite on 6/29/26. I had a 3 hr drive ahead of me. After driving approximate 8-10 miles, the seats became extremely uncomfortable to the point that I had to turn around and go back to the dealership. There was excessive pressure on my tailbone/coccyx and caused so much discomfort that I could no longer sit in the seat. It was impossible to get the seat to a comfortable and safe position while driving. The passenger seat was similar, but not as severe as the driver. Both driver and passenger are unable to sit in the seats for any length of time. When returning to the dealership they agreed that the seats felt very uncomfortable and understood why a person could not safely and comfortably drive any distance. Apparently the fan box for ventilated seats, are the cause of the excessive pressure on the tailbone/coccyx. The dealer fully agrees that the car could not be driven for any length of time with that defect. It would eventually cause a person to develop back issues from the pressure on the spine area. It is now 7/3/26 and my newly purchased car is still at the dealers lot. I tested 2 prior Passport Elites at 2 other dealers and neither had this issue. Apparently this is a huge issue with the new Passport Elite vehicles.

When the seat cooling system is on, the seat surface becomes unusually firm and uncomfortable, especially in the tailbone and lower back area. Even during relatively short drives, I experience soreness and pressure that I have not experienced in previous vehicles, and I’ve owned a Honda Passport previously. This has become a serious comfort and usability concern. A premium vehicle should provide supportive seating, particularly on longer drives, and instead these seats are causing physical discomfort and pain. I purchased this vehicle expecting a high standard of comfort and ergonomics, especially given the trim level and price point. The driver's seat has a large bump in the back of it which causes long term pain while sitting in the seat. The passenger seat is too low and has no support so the passenger is extremely uncomfortable, even on short rides. An average person can barely see over the dashboard.

The front seats on our new 2026 Honda Passport Elite are extremely uncomfortable. To the point of actually being painful. It feels like there is something towards the back of the seat where you sit that is bulging. It puts considerable discomfort and pain on the pelvic floor of an individual. You have to scoot your behind forward to get off this object to be able to stand it. Not a safe sitting position for driving. I have Googled 2026 Passport Elite uncomfortable seats and there are actually quite a few complaints about the uncomfortable seats. All the complaints describe the issue the same way. Users seem to think we are sitting on the fan box for the air conditioned seats. This is a new design for 2026, and seems Honda has a systematic engineering flaw that needs to be addressed. To the point of being a safety recall. Honda is a great company and I hope that this complaint as well as the complaint I made to Honda will get this painful, safety issue resolved.

When AUTO climate control is enabled, the vehicle disables manually selected heated seat settings without driver consent. This requires repeated driver interaction to restore seat heat while driving. AUTO climate should regulate fan speed and airflow only, not override manual seat heater controls. The behavior creates unnecessary driver distraction and removes expected manual control of interior comfort features.

After maybe an hour of driving, the driver's seat becomes uncomfortable to the point that my left buttocks and leg become sore and numb, causing me to have to continually shift positions and adjust the seat while driving. I feel this creates an unsafe driving habit. I am now reporting this issue to Honda, so they have not yet had a chance to respond to my concerns. After reporting to Honda, I may also take the car to the dealer to see if they have any suggestions.

This is not an accident but a could contribute to an accident. the drivers seat on the 2026 Honda passport is extremely difficult to sit in more than 30 mins. The fan ventilation "system" that is in the New 2026 passport can be felt and puts pressure in the pelvic floor and tail bone area. I have had to put a 2 inch padding and tip the site higher than I would normally. I know that seat are designed for safety and I am aware doing all these adjustments takes from that Safty in an accident. I can also add the structural (body) discomfort is very distracting while I drive which takes away from my focus. I have read many other complaints on reddit website forums. This is a design flaw that could possibly cause future harm. I feel this issue needs to be addressed by Honda .
