2013 Honda Ridgeline Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2013 Honda Ridgeline, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

I took this vehicle to the local Honda dealership in Sioux Falls Sd in 2015 or 2016 and waited (approximately 4 + hours) while they stated they repaired the faulty airbags according to the recall - but since that time I keep receiving these notices so now I don’t know if the Honda dealership didn’t actually repair the passenger airbag or didn’t file the repair

The rear crossmember of the Honda Ridgeline 2013 RTL where the trailer hitch is attached is rusted through which could break when towing or driving causing an accident. I think Honda should weld a plate onto the crossmember beam and undercoat it. Thank you

IF YOU PRESS THE BRAKE AND STILL HAVE A FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL, YOU LOOSE ALL POWER UNTIL YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. I'M GUESSING ITS THE COMPUTER THAT CAUSES THIS TO OCCUR. IT COULD CAUSE A CRASH FOR PEOPLE THAT DON'T KNOW THIS.

NHTSA ID 10717531 · filed May 20, 2015

WHEN STARTING IN MOTION AFTER A STOP FOR A TRAFFIC SIGNAL, OR MAKING A SLOW TURN THE POWER FROM THE ENGINE STOPS. I AM A LEFT FOOT BRAKE, TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO CONTROL SPEED IN TRAFFIC TO AVOID A STOP AND GO REAR END COLLISION SITUATION FOLLOWING OTHER CARS, THE ENGINE POWER STOPS. PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL TO INCREASE POWER DOES NOT WORK, BUT HAVING PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL AND REMOVING MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL CAUSES RAPID ACCELERATION. OFTEN MAKING A LEFT TURN INTO A DRIVE I WILL TOUCH THE BRAKE TO CONTROL THE TRANSITION SPEED FROM THE STREET TO ENTRANCE DRIVE OF A SHOPPING CENTER. THE LOSS OF POWER LEAVES ME IN A POSITION OF BEING HIT BY TRAFFIC IN THE TRAVEL LANE. PLEASE DO NOT SAY LEFT FOOT BRAKING IS DANGEROUS, A QUICK SEARCH WILL SHOW THAT RIGHT FOOT BRAKE MISTAKE THE GAS FOR THE BRAKE FAR MORE OFTEN THAN A LEFT FOOT BRAKE WILL MISTAKE THE CLUTCH PEDAL FOR THE BRAKE. I HAVE BEEN TOLERATING THIS SITUATION SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE RIDGELINE BASICALLY SAYS "IT IS YOUR FAULT FOR LEFT FOOT BRAKING" I HAVE DRIVEN MANY VEHICLES IN MY LIFE AND HAVE NEVER RUN INTO THIS SITUATION. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
