2022 Honda Ridgeline Fuel system Problems

Car failed to restart engine after auto stop/start, battery is fairly new and was replaced because a few incidents like this and assumed it was a faulty battery. It becomes a very dangerous situation when trying to join traffic while exiting a parking lot or when stopped at a traffic light and the car does nor restart. It has to be placed in park, turned off, open a door, close it and then press the ignition button to start again.

just got on the freeway when car lost power, slowed down, check engine light turns on, and more lights start flashing. Potentially could have caused an accident if I was going faster on road. Went to mechanic, Code P0301, after diagnosis, fuel injectors failing. Mechanic was able to reproduce incident. Similar to recall for previous models, but not recalled on 2022 model. Need to replace fuel injectors. Had minor loss of power a few days prior, but not as severe

Rodents chewed through fuel vent line. We did have emission warning light come on. Took to dealer and was told unsafe to drive. Seems to be an issue with the soy based lines used. Could have potentially resulted in a vehicle fire. Auto insurance will cover repairs but not rodent tape to prevent future reoccurance.

On multiple occasions at highway speeds when coasting for a few seconds roughly 50mph to 70mph, the truck begins to stall/ lose power. We thought it was related to the Auto-idle feature, but the last two events I had it turned off. This has happened 5 or 6 times to me and my wife since about six months after buying the truck. Four of the events - November 2023: [XXX] in New Jersey at ~50 mph, engine lost power, applying gas did nothing. A few seconds later it regained power and made a buzzing noise. [XXX]: On [XXX] in Virginia, going down hill at ~70 mph, the engine lost power without warning, steering & brake pedal began to freeze up as if the truck was turning off when coasting briefly down with the flow of traffic. I pumped the gas pedal to no avail - a couple of seconds later it recovered and started up - and buzzed loudly. I avoided an accident; luckily the vehicle behind us was not tailgating. No lights or warning appeared on the dash. The dealer scanned the truck's computer and they noted a transmission event code, but nothing more. Could not replicate the issue. [XXX], Jacksonville, FL [XXX] near [XXX] at ~62 mph, in the middle lane with Auto-idle turned off, engine began to lose power briefly with a slight Buzz (high pitch) when it "came back" to full power - again while cruising, almost coasting - to keep pace and distance from the vehicle in front of me. My wife witnessed the event and made note of the time and speed. [XXX], 8:13pm - on [XXX] going through Jax on the way to the airport to pick up my wife. In the middle lane (second over from left lane) at ~60mph started to lose power in spite of my foot being on the gas. I kept the gas applied and the engine power came back. No buzz sound. At ~ 31,531 mile on the odometer. The truck has been back to the dealer 3 times and they cannot replicate the event. Vehicle goes into limp mode, limited power, flashing check engine light This happens after extended period on highway (hour or more) below 20 degrees F. When you exit highway and come to a stop. All good as soon as you try to accelerate CEL starts flashing and I have reduced power. To correct this. The vehicle has to be shut off and restarted. This means it happens when pulling out into traffic from a stand still at a stop light stop sign. Limited to about 15 mph regardless of road pulling onto. Then have to pull over shut off and restart put back in drive and go. This is not ideal in most cases and dangerous. Honda released a TSB but will not cover if out of warranty. I filed case with Honda at 70 K. They agreed to pay for parts and labor minus $50 deductible and sales tax on parts. This affect all 2017 to 2023 and some 2024 vehicles with 3.5L engine. This first happened to me with roughly 2k miles on car and is sporadic. Only cold weather and matches their TSB. Happens frequently every winter for me. For last 3 years When I found Honda TSB 24-085 suddenly the dealer knew this was happening. Yet I have been complaining for 3 years of issue. Once I showed them tsb suddenly oh that’s what you mean.

2022 Ridgeline's Auto Idle Engine Off/On activated while driving/moving. This week it occurred (Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024) on I95 in Virginia when going down hill at approximately 70 mph. The engine ceased without warning and the steering and brake pedal began to freeze up when I had eased off the gas to coast briefly down hill (in order to keep in the flow of traffic). I then gave it gas, pumping the pedal, and a couple of seconds later it recovered and started up; the Truck’s starter buzzed loudly as it restarted. I avoided an accident in traffic by not panicking and luckily because the vehicle behind us was not tailgating and that the section of highway was straight and not on a bend - otherwise it could have been catastrophic. The rest of the trip we turned the feature off and the truck had no incidents. Based on the few previous events, which were at slower speeds, it seems that if the truck coasts even briefly the feature can trigger as if the sensor "senses" that the truck is not moving - and the engine turns off (previously it felt like the truck was stalling). I previously mentioned the incidents to the dealer service techs but there is no awareness or acknowledgement of the issue. This week I placed another call to the dealer and left a detailed message - but nobody at the dealer has acknowledged this is an issue.

On two seperate occasions now my 2022 Ridgeline, which has less than 5000 miles, has lost considerable power when attempting to merge onto a highway and had the check engine light start flashing. This has required me to quickly pull over off the road as I was merging and unable to get my speed up. When this occurred, I had been driving on a highway for about an hour and was merging from the highway onto a larger interstate. The temperature outside was approximately 20 degrees F and my gas tank was above 3/4 tank that was purchased 2 days earlier.

The truck randomly smells very strong of raw fuel in the cabin and sometimes exhaust as well. This typically happens more after refueling as well as after 30+ minute drives and then idling at a stop light for example. There are no visual leaks of the fuel system. The smell seems to be coming from the passenger side of the engine bay.
