The contact owns a 2007 Honda VT750. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware of a leak coming from the fuel valve. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or local dealer. The contact related the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 08V141000 (Fuel System, Gasoline); however, the vehicle was not included. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO, MY HUSBAND WAS CLEANING MY BIKE WHEN HE NOTICED SOME DISCOLORATION ON THE ENGINE. UPON INVESTIGATION, HE FOUND THAT THE FUEL VALVE ON THE GAS TANK WAS DRIPPING GASOLINE. HE CONTACTED HONDA MOTORCYCLE CUSTOMER SERVICE TWICE AND BOTH TIMES WAS TOLD MY MOTORCYCLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THAT THE RECALL WAS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN) SPECIFIC. DUE TO THE OBVIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS, I WENT AHEAD AND ORDERED A NEW OEM PART ON-LINE AND PAID FOR IT. MY HUSBAND SPENT TWO HOURS THIS WEEKEND REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE PART. I CONSIDER LEAKING GASOLINE ONTO A HOT ENGINE A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I ALSO FEEL A RECALL FOR SUCH AN ISSUE SHOULD NOT BE VIN SPECIFIC. IF THIS LEAK HAD NOT BEEN CAUGHT WHEN IT WAS, IT COULD HAVE EASILY ERUPTED INTO A FULL BLOWN FIRE SERIOUSLY INJURING ME OR MY HUSBAND AS WELL AS ANY INNOCENT BYSTANDERS. I ASK THAT SOMEONE PLEASE CONTACT THE HONDA CORPORATION AND SEE IF THEY WILL EXPAND THEIR RECALL.

ENGINE HAS A KNOCKING NOISE. IF I PUT IT IN GEAR AND LET THE CLUTCH OUT A LITTLE, IT GOES AWAY. TOOK IT IN TO DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT THE BIKE FOR SERVICE, AND WAS TOLD THE NOISE WAS NORMAL FOR A V- TWIN MOTOR. *JB

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 HONDA SHADOW AERO VT750C. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AT 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR OR ANY OTHER GEAR. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING AND THE VEHICLE HAS NO HAZARD LIGHTS. THE VEHICLE WAS REAR-ENDED AND THE CONTACT RECEIVED INJURIES TO HIS BACK AND NECK. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 630. THE CONSUMER STATED WANTS TO KNOW WHY MOTORCYCLES ARE NOT BUILT WITH HAZARD LIGHTS. NEW MOTORCYCLE PURCHASED 5/14/07 AT METRO POWER SPORTS, CANTON MI. FROM DELIVERY-ON HAVE COMPLAINED OF NOISE IN MOTOR, PLAY IN CLUTCH AND MOSTLY THE "RIDE" OF THE MACHINE. THE TIRES "SKIP/HOP" AS THE BIKE IS DRIVEN @ 25 MPH AND ABOVE. NUMEROUS TECH'S HAVE DRIVEN THE BIKE AND AGREE THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG. THE FIRST ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WAS TO REPLACE THE TIRE - NO CHANGE. NEXT IT WAS TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT HONDA DEALER, WHERE THEIR ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WAS TO ADD MULTIPLE WEIGHTS TO THE WHEEL. BEFORE THEY PROCEEDED WITH THE REPAIR, HOWEVER, A REP FROM CORPORATE HONDA CAME OUT TO INSPECT THE MOTORCYCLE AND CLAIMED THE BIKE WAS PERFECTLY FINE. THIS IS A BRAND NEW (2007 MODEL) MOTORCYCLE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE DEFECTS. BETWEEN THE CLUTCH AND THE WHEEL HOPS IT FEELS DANGEROUS TO RIDE. I AM AFRAID WHEN THE WHEEL JUMPS THE MOTORCYCLE WILL SLIDE OUT FROM UNDER ME. I AM AN EXPERIENCES RIDER AND HAVE DRIVEN USED BIKES THAT RIDE MUCH BETTER THAN THIS. I HAVE DOCUMENTED THE ATTEMPTS WE HAVE MADE TO GET REPAIRS ACCOMPLISHED AND HAVE BEEN UNSATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS. I SHOULD NOT HAVE THESE PROBLEMS WITH A BRAND NEW PRODUCT. PLEASE NOTE: YOUR SELECTIONS UNDER TIRES DO NOT CONFORM TO THE TYPE ON THE MOTORCYCLE.
