What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2008 Ic Bus Ce, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

WE HAVE HAD 4 2008 MODEL IC 77 CAPACITY SCHOOL BUSES THAT THE ENTRANCE DOOR HAS BROKEN AND FALLEN OFF OF THE BUS. IN ALL 4 CASES THE DOOR FRAME BROKE AT THE UPPER HINGE PIVOT POINT AND ALLOWED THE DOOR TO BECOME DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FRACTURES IN THE METAL FRAME LOOK EXTREMELY SIMILAR IN ALL 4 CASES. THEE FIRST INCIDENT WAS IN OCTOBER 2008, THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS LAST WEEK. *TR
I HAVE A SERIES OF 2008 CONVENTIONAL IC SCHOOL BUSES (21 BUSES) THAT WERE PURCHASED NEW IN JULY 2008. SINCE THE BEG. OF THE SCH. YR, (AUG. 20TH) WE HAVE HAD 5 ENTRANCE (EMERGENCY) DOORS SHEAR OFF AT THE TOP OF THE DOOR AND FALL OUTWARD, BEING HELD SOLELY BY THE BOTTOM PIN. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. IF THE BOTTOM PIN WERE TO GIVE WAY ALSO...THE DOOR WOULD FALL ON THE CHILDREN THAT ARE LOADING OR UNLOADING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THESE DOORS ARE DEFECTIVE AND THAT THERE IS NO PLAN TO RECALL. NO ONE KILLED OR INJURED...YET SO THE DEALER SAYS THAT THEY ARE JUST REPLACING THEM AS THEY BREAK OFF. IS THERE ANYTHING IN THE WORKS TO RECALL THESE BUSES BEFORE ONE OF THESE DOORS FALLS ONTO A SMALL CHILD? I HAVE SUBMITTED THE INFO. FOR THE FIRST VEHICLE HAD THE PROBLEM. IF NEED BE I WILL SUBMIT FOR THE OTHER 4 VEHICLES. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 IC CE300 INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL BUS. WHILE TRAVELING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE CONTACT WHERE HE OBSERVED THAT THE OIL LINE WAS SPLIT, CAUSING HOT ENGINE OIL TO SPRAY ONTO THE ENGINE. THE OIL LINES WERE REPLACED BY THE CONTACT. THE CURRENT AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 56,690. AN ADDITIONAL FAILURE ON A SISTER BUS (MILEAGE 47261) ON MARCH 28, 2011. I KNOW OF ANOTHER DISTRICT NEARBY THAT HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM ALSO.
AS YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE MIL LAMP (ENGINE EMISSIONS CONTROL MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP) COMES ON AND THE BUS WILL GO TO IDLE AND YOU CAN NOT ACCELERATE. YOU MUST STOP SHUT THE ENGINE KEY OFF AND RESTART AND THE LIGHT GOES OFF AND THE BUS RUNS FINE UNTIL THE MIL LIGHT COMES ON AGAIN. THIS IS INTERMITTENT. SOME TIMES IT DOESN'T DO IT AT ALL AND SOME TIMES IT WILL COME ON ONE TO FOUR TIMES ON A 15 MILE RUN. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
