2019 Ic Bus PB105 Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2019 Ic Bus PB105, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Ranked by how many owner reports name each component category

  • Engine133.3%

Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.

report

From owner reports, verbatim

THE BUS WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GETTING UP TO SPEED WHEN THE TRANSMISSION HAD AN ELECTRIC COMPONENT FAIL AND THAT CAUSED THE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WITH NO THROTTLE RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE COASTED TO A STOP AND HAD NO WAY TO MOVE THE VEHICLE AT ALL. WE HAVE SISTER BUSES THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ALSO BUT IT HAS BEEN AT A PARKING LOT OR IN OUR LOT WE HAVE 5 MORE OF THESE BUSES. IF THIS HAPPENS IN AN INTERSECTION OR APPROACHING AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY THERE IS NO WAY TO MOVE THE BUS OTHER THAN A TOW TRUCK . EATON TRANSMISSION HAS A REPLACEMENT PART TO FIX THIS ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO RECALL OR SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS ISSUE.THESE ARE LOW MILEAGE UNITS WITH 20,000 - 30,0000 MILES ON THEM. THE PART THAT FAILS IS A MAGNET IN A PLASTIC HOLDER THAT GETS BRITTLE AND FALLS APART OR THE MAGNET BREAKS APART CAUSING THE SAME RESULTS OF NOT BEING ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE UNDER ITS OWN POWER. ACCORDING TO THE BUS COMPANY, THEY HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM IN OTHER BUS COMPANIES WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSIONS. WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE INVOICES ON WOK PREFORMED FROM THE WARRANTY DEPARTMENT YET.
