1993 INFINITI J30 Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 1993 INFINITI J30, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

TRANSMISSION FAILED AT SPEED OF 60-65 MPH. AFTER BEING SERVICED, KICKED INTO 3RD GEAR, THEN WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO 2ND, 1ST GEAR OR REVERSE.*AK

NHTSA ID 878949 · filed Jan 24, 2001

MY TRANSMISSION BEGAN "JUMPING" INTO SECOND GEAR SEVERAL YEARS AGO. I HAVE HAD THE DEALER CHECK IT 3 TIMES, AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE A PROBLEM. IN THEIR DEFENSE, THE FOLKS AT THE DEALERESHIP ARE PLEASANT AND HELPFUL, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE JUMP IS SOMEWHAT INCONSISTENT (LET'S SAY 50 PERCENT OF THE TIME), BUT VERY INTRUSIVE ~ MUCH LIKE SOMEONE LETTING OUT A MANUAL CLUTCH TOO QUICKLY. I DRIVE THIS CAR VERY LITTLE AS A RESULT OF THIS PROBLEM.
