1990 Isuzu Amigo Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 1990 Isuzu Amigo, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

THE RUBBER SLEEVE THAT PROTECTS THE EXPOSED THROTTLE CABLE FROM DIRT HAD STARTED TO MELT (FROM ENGINE HEAT). THE RUBBER HAD MELTED AROUND THE THROTTLE CABLE CAUSING THE CABLE TO BE HELD IN THE OPEN POSITION. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND DISCOVERED THE THROTTLE WAS STICKING I STARTED BANGING ON THE SIDE OF THE PEDAL WITH MY FOOT THINKING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE PEDAL ITSELF CAUSING THE THROTTLE TO BE PRESSED MORE. THIS HAPPEND WHILE TRAVELING SOUTH ON US 301 APPROACHING THE US 70 INTERSECTION IN SELMA, NORTH CAROLINA. AFTER I DID GET THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF, I CHECKED AROUND THE THROTTLE AREA UNDER THE HOOD AND FOUND THE RUBBER MELTING ONTO THE CABLE. I TOOK OFF WHAT WAS LEFT AND CLEANED THE CABLE AND HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM SINCE.*AK
