The car is on its third battery replacement, now a total of 4 new batteries. Due to a known, ongoing issue that does not have a permanent fix. Resulting in the car being in the repair shop for months. It is recommended to not park in the garage due to the chance of a fire. The battery cannot be charged more than 90% for safety issues.

I am writing to formally request that Jaguar Land Rover North America repurchase my 2020 I-PACE. The vehicle has two unrepaired safety recalls for high-voltage battery thermal overload, including one for which no final remedy is yet available, and it is currently inoperable due to a recurring drive-motor fault that the servicing dealer's own technician has documented as pre-existing. I believe these issues are interrelated and originate in the vehicle's high-voltage electrical system. Confirmed recall status (per NHTSA VIN lookup): - [XXX] / NHTSA 26V-067 — Recall Incomplete. NHTSA's summary states that since installation of the protective software, field evidence shows a risk of thermal overload remains in vehicles with battery packs manufactured through the end of the 2021 model year, which includes this vehicle. - H572 / NHTSA 26V-067 — Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available. Both recalls concern thermal overload in the high-voltage traction battery that may present as smoke or fire, with risk of occupant injury, injury to others, and property damage. Owners are advised to limit charging and park away from structures. Vehicle history and current status: - On XXX, the vehicle was towed to the dealer because it was dead and would not start. - The dealer's technician comments on RO XXX state that fault code P0A40-00 (Drive Motor "A" Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance) "originally occurred prior to any work being performed" at 90,585 km on 31-May-2026, 15:42:35 UTC, "and keeps returning." This places the drive-motor fault at the time the vehicle arrived inoperable, before any service work, and identifies it as recurring. - The technician replaced the 12V start-up battery (which had failed testing and would not hold charge) and cleared faults. After this, the vehicle displayed a flashing "D," would not drive, and would not shift to Park. The vehicle has experienced repeated high‑voltage battery system failures consistent with the symptoms described in the current open safety recall for this model. The vehicle first displayed a “High Voltage System Fault” warning, loss of A/C cooling, and inability to charge. A dealer confirmed an HV isolation fault and documented an isolation reading of only 38 megaohms, which is far below normal and indicates a dangerous high‑voltage isolation breakdown. They replaced the front inverter (EPIC), the 3‑phase cable, and the high‑voltage cable to the battery. Less than a year later, the same “High Voltage System Fault” warning reappeared and the vehicle again became unable to charge. The dealer stated that “the same repair performed in the front is now needed in the rear,” indicating a second HV isolation failure in another section of the high‑voltage system. This suggests a systemic defect in the high‑voltage battery pack or associated components, consistent with the recall involving thermal overload, internal shorts, and isolation failure. The vehicle is currently subject to an open recall instructing owners to limit charging to 90% and charge only outdoors due to fire risk. The repeated failures create a safety hazard due to potential thermal events, loss of propulsion, and inability to safely charge the vehicle. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer multiple times. Despite this, the dealer is attempting to charge for repairs that appear directly related to the recall defect, and no permanent remedy has been provided.

The dealer has completed a reduction in battery charging to 90 percent. But has not remedied the possibility of overheating or fire. I now have a vehicle that I can not fully charge, and as per manufacturer instructions cannot charge or even store in a garage. The value of my vehicle has been negatively affected due to these unresolved serious safety concerns. I therefore want Jaguar to fix the defects immediately or buy back the vehicle. My traction battery warranty is still in effect but I'm worried that Jaguar is delaying in hopes that more of the affected cars will run out of warranty. I've inquired about purchasing another vehicle from a different manufacturer but when I tell them I'm trading in my IPace their enthusiasm wanes. Please help. I purchased the vehicle with approximately 56,000 miles. Within 2–3 weeks after purchase a “traction battery fault” warning appeared. I took it to a dealership, which said it was a battery module fault. They replaced defective battery cell under warranty (repair value ~$7,000–8,000). During the same initial period and continuing after the battery repair, the vehicle exhibited intermittent AC charging failures. It would begin Level 2 charging sessions and then terminate them prematurely. This includes both the Level 2 charger I installed new at my home upon purchasing the car, and commercial Level 2 chargers. The home charger would repeatedly show a fault that the vehicle was ending the sessions. Over the following months, the condition progressively worsened from intermittent to near-total loss of AC charging capability. The vehicle can still DC fast charge. Dealer diagnosed the failure as a defective BCCM requiring replacement at a cost of approximately $6,700. This is a known and documented issue: Jaguar has issued TSB SSM75883 (NHTSA Document MC-10227452-0001) addressing I-PACE vehicles unable to charge with BCCM fault code U3000-49, and TSB SFCC Jul20_11 (NHTSA Document MC-10178140-0001) for the 2020 I-PACE specifically. The vehicle cannot be charged at home or at any AC charging station, rendering it effectively inoperable for normal daily use.

When braking the car jumps then brakes, the electrical system flickers sometimes and it won’t go into gear. If not used for a couple days a warning comes on. This has happened 2 times despite buying a new battery is what the dealership said it needed. Now it’s in the shop again for the same thing and not once did they tell me about the recall and now charging me for the software updates from the recall

The refusal is based solely on the vehicle having a salvage title, and the issue has been incorrectly classified by Jaguar Land Rover Middle East as a warranty-related matter, which is not accurate. This is a safety recall, not a warranty claim. My Vehicle ( 2020 Jaguar I-Pace) was at an authorized Jaguar repair shop for a repeated 12 volt battery failure. While there I was informed by the shop on 12/31 that the vehicle experienced high - voltage battery smoke, a thermal event during charging. 1)What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The High Voltage Battery - The vehicle is available at this time at McGovern Cars 888-670-9014 -315 New Karner Rd Albany NY 12205 2) How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? risk of fire and explosion 3) Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? It occurred at the dealer 4) Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes by the Jaguar certified repair shop , not by police or insurance. 5)Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - First the 12 volt battery died, the vehicle was properly towed to the dealership for repair, They could not get the hood open , eventually they said the hood latch was broken, the replaced the 12 v battery and fixed the hood latch, they began charging the vehicle and the High voltage battery began to smoke. They reported they immediately moved the vehicle far from the building where as of now it still sits. I am unaware of any warn prior .
