What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2017 Jayco Alante, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2017 Jayco Alante RV. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the RV was shaking abnormally. The contact stopped and parked the RV and performed an inspection. The contact became aware that the four passenger’s side braces used to connect the body to the subframe of the RV were fractured. In addition, the contact stated that due to the failure, the RV was leaning to the passenger’s side. The contact stated that the dealers had refused to diagnose or repair the RV because of the fiberglass part. The RV had not been diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000. The VIN was not available.
I SMELLED BURNING RUBBER WHILE DRIVING ON I40 GOING TO ARIZONA FROM CALIFORNIA, I PARKED THE VEHICLE TO A REST STOP. WHEN I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE THE COMPARTMENT/STORAGE FLOORING IS UNEVEN, WHEN I INSPECTED THE UNDERNEATH PART I SAW PLASTIC PARTS MELTED TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, NO FIRE BUT IT CREATED A HOLE 6X6 IN DIAMETER. I EMAILED THE DEALER AND WAITING FOR REPLY, THIS HAPPEN FRIDAY JUNE 30TH 2017.

The contact owns a 2017 Jayco Alante RV built on a 2016 Ford F53 Chassis. The contact stated that there was a design flaw, making it impossible to work on the braking system of the motorhome. While having a routine oil change at the local dealer, the contact was informed that the brake fluid reservoir could not be opened because the brake fluid reservoir was not accessible. The dashboard of the cab was placed directly on top of the brake fluid reservoir cap. The dealer was unable to remove the cap. The contact was informed by the dealer that a hole could be cut int the dashboard to create an access for the brake fluid reservoir cap. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JAYCO ALANTE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY VEERED FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. A LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT AND THE STEERING NEEDED TO BE ADJUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 720. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

Visibility
Reports naming windshields, glass, wipers, defrosters and mirrors.
From owner reports, verbatim
WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (65) ENCOUNTERED HEAVY RAINFALL, TURNED WIPERS TO HIGH, WITHIN 3 SWIPES DRIVER SIDE WIPER FLIPS OFF WINDSHIELD ON LEFT, FLIES BACK TO MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD OF DRIVER SIDE WITHOUT CLEARING WINDOW. WIPER NOW APPEARS TO BE "BROKEN" IN THAT IT ONLY CLEARS TOTAL WINDOW WHILE IN STOPPED POSITION, ANY MOVEMENT FORWARD BY RV STARTS THE FLIP OFF WINDSHIELD. INVESTIGATION SHOWS THE ENTIRE WIPER MECHANISM IS ROTATING ON ITS MOUNTING. THIS PROBLEM APPARENTLY HAPPENED TO THE ALANTE ON THE ORIGINAL TRIP TO BE DELIVERED FOR SALE IN MONTANA. WE WERE TOLD "IT WAS FIXED".
