What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2025 Jeep Wagoneer S, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim
This vehicle has experienced the same or substantially similar serious safety-related malfunction on three separate occasions. The vehicle becomes unable to engage gear or move and also will not shut down normally. The first incident occurred in XXX in a parking garage in [XXX]. The vehicle powered on but would not engage gear or move and would not shut down. Operation was eventually restored following an electrical reset involving the 12-volt battery. The second incident occurred on XXX, while the vehicle was in my driveway. The vehicle again would not properly engage gear or move and would not shut down normally. An electrical/high-voltage system reset was required before the vehicle became operational again. The third and most serious incident occurred on XXX, at approximately 8:00 p.m. on a highway shoulder near the RFK Bridge in [XXX]. After stopping on the shoulder, I attempted to leave but the vehicle again would not engage gear or move and would not shut down normally. I was therefore stranded on the side of a highway. Police responded and remained behind my vehicle because of the hazardous location while I attempted to restore operation. The vehicle eventually became operational again following an electrical reset. I am concerned that the vehicle can unexpectedly become immobilized and unable to engage Drive or Reverse and may also remain powered on and unable to shut down. Stellantis technical documentation for 2024-2025 Jeep Wagoneer S vehicles describes similar electronic park/pawl faults including DTCs P1E18-00, P1625-00 and [XXX]. I have requested that Stellantis investigate these conditions. The recurring nature of this defect, particularly the XXX incident requiring police assistance creates a serious safety concern. I am requesting that NHTSA document and investigate this recurring defect and determine whether other Jeep Wagoneer S vehicles have experienced the same condition. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Since July 2025, this vehicle has suffered from severe, recurring electronic and software glitches that critically affect driveability and safe operation. While driving, multiple critical warnings display on the instrument cluster indicating that the airbags are inoperable. Following or during these warnings, the vehicle experiences sudden power/system disruptions, after which the windshield wipers activate automatically on their own, and the turn signals completely stop working. These compounding electrical faults pose a severe safety hazard. Despite manufacturer software recalls issued for instrument panel and electrical system failures (such as Stellantis/FCA Recall Campaign 39D / NHTSA ID 26V262), the software patches have failed to resolve these dangerous operational glitches, and the vehicle continues to malfunction unpredictably.
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
When the vehicle is turned on, going into reverse the radio freezes. At which point you loose the HMI unit, camera and rear parking sensors. Reported multiple times to Jeep, who has failed to repair this issue.
The vehicle is unsafe; it freezes while driving leaving one unable to navigate in any way. Everything ceases at once - nothing works, you can't put it into P/D/R/N, it won't accellerate or turn off. It just freezes, won't drive, won't turn off, completely locks up either while parked (the safer version) or while driving (completely unsafe, imagine being in a moving vehicle with no control at all?). Please don't ignore this - look at social media where hundreds, if not thousands of people are reporting the same exact event. It has happened to me alone 3x. Jeep claims they have no fix for it yet they aren't recalling the vehicle which is reckless. Please make them accountable and keep our highways safe!
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
Exiting interstate 10 at exit 31 in Mississippi on July 31 at 815 am eastbound, Braking did not stop the car and it went straight thru the interection and was a near miss collision with a southbound vehicle at the end of the exit ramp. Car enteted the intersection, as brakes totally failed
I recently purchased this vehicle and had possession of it for only three days before it developed a serious braking-related issue. While driving, the ABS warning light illuminated, indicating that the anti-lock braking system required service. At the same time, the vehicle became noticeably more difficult to stop, requiring increased braking distance and significantly earlier brake application than normal. The failed component is currently at the dealership and is available for inspection. The illuminated ABS warning also disabled several advanced driver assistance features, including the collision avoidance and automatic emergency braking systems. As a result, important safety features designed to help prevent or mitigate collisions were unavailable while the warning lights were present. This malfunction created a significant safety risk to me, my passengers, and other motorists. On multiple occasions, the vehicle required substantially more distance to stop, increasing the risk of a rear-end collision, particularly if another driver stopped suddenly or cut in front of my vehicle. Because the collision avoidance and assisted braking systems were also disabled, there was no electronic backup available to help reduce the risk of an accident. The vehicle has been inspected by the selling dealership, where technicians confirmed the problem after the vehicle failed two separate diagnostic tests. The vehicle remains at the dealership awaiting replacement parts and repair. It has now been out of service longer than I have actually been able to drive it since purchasing it. The ABS warning light and related service messages appeared before the braking performance deteriorated. To the best of my knowledge, no crash or injuries occurred, but the defect significantly increased stopping distance and created an unsafe driving condition. Based on the dealer's diagnosis, the issue has been confirmed and is awaiting repair.
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.

Vehicle would not go into gear when turned on. Vehicle would not turn off when attempted to turn off. Could not even open doors when attempting to get back in vehicle. I received notices to service the following: blind spot alert, electronic stability control, transmission, autopark, electric vehicle system. I received a notification that the vehicle was going 317 miles per hour. It is now in the shop for the 3rd time in 10 months for the same issues. This vehicle needs to be recalled as it is a hazard to the general public.
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.

INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The vehicle has experienced two critical drivetrain failures. The first occurred in December 2025 at approximately 2,000 miles. The transmission failed, leaving the vehicle undriveable and requiring a tow. After repair, the vehicle was returned still displaying brake-system service warnings and had to go back to the dealer a second time. The second failure occurred on March 23, 2026 at 3,471 miles. The instrument cluster displayed 'Service Transmission' and 'Service Transmission - Set Park Brake to Prevent Rolling' with multiple red warning indicators. Battery was at 47%, confirming this is not a charge issue. The vehicle lost all drivetrain function without warning and could not be driven. This is a safety-critical defect - complete loss of propulsion and the inability to hold the vehicle in gear creates a risk of the vehicle rolling and a stranding hazard. The dealer has been unable to resolve the issue after three service visits. The problem has been confirmed and inspected by the authorized Stellantis dealer.
Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
This vehicle has experienced three separate safety failures within only a few months of ownership. Incident 1: While driving with my children in the vehicle, the battery warning light illuminated and the vehicle immediately entered a low-power “turtle mode,” rapidly losing speed in traffic. The vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. Incident 2: While traveling approximately 60 mph, the hood latch failed and the vehicle immediately decelerated to approximately 20 mph, creating a dangerous situation in traffic. The vehicle again had to be towed. Incident 3: While pulling into my driveway, the vehicle displayed warning lights when shifted into reverse and went into transmission lock, rendering it immobile before losing power completely. In all three cases my wife and children were in the vehicle and were placed in unsafe situations. I am concerned this vehicle has serious safety defects.
The most recent occurrence happened on January 20, 2026. This was not the first time this issue occurred. During a prior incident involving the same loss of accelerator response and unpredictable vehicle behavior, my small children were passengers in the vehicle and became visibly distressed and worried. During the most recent incident on January 21, 2026, while driving through an intersection, the vehicle entered a reduced power or “limp mode” condition and would not accelerate when the accelerator pedal was pressed. When the accelerator pedal was released, the vehicle accelerated unexpectedly and rapidly. Warning indicators related to electronic stability control and the high-voltage system were present. Diagnostic information later indicated loss of communication with the high-voltage battery systems. The vehicle behavior was unpredictable and felt unsafe. This occurred after the vehicle had been driven and was not limited to startup. Given that this issue has occurred more than once, including previously when my children were present, I no longer feel safe driving this vehicle.

Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim
I am not comfortable with this recall. Having a door fall off while driving is not acceptable. The dealer is totally overwhelmed. The earliest they can take the car in is in 3 weeks and then in the past it took them 1 month to look at the car. I am totally done with this car
The dealer can't take my car in for service for at least 3 weeks even though the vehicle is not safe to drive.

Exterior lighting
Reports naming headlights, tail lights, turn signals and other exterior lighting.
From owner reports, verbatim
My vehicle’s low beams are vertically obstructed by the front end design of the car - the low beams are set back in the headlight unit and at night they only project to a limited height on the roadway in front of the vehicle - this results in a very distinct line created and anything above that line cannot be seen - on a perfectly level roadway the projection of the low beams is adequate but when the vehicle is not n motion and the roadway pitches down at the slightest angle and when you approach and angle of road that is inclined you cannot see at night. This light project issue results in “overdriving your heads in low beams when other cars are approaching - the other morning I almost his a large deer and only its feet were illuminated.
