What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2015 Jeep Wrangler, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Each component in detail
What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim
I purchased this 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon new and have maintained and serviced it regularly. At approximately 75,000–80,000 miles, the engine began developing a ticking noise from the passenger/right cylinder head area. The problem progressively worsened. At approximately 100,000 miles, repairs were performed involving the right-side cylinder head and camshaft because of camshaft/valvetrain wear and a persistent cylinder #2 misfire. The right-side cylinder head/camshaft area has required repair more than once. Rocker arms were also replaced, but the underlying problem continued. The vehicle now has approximately 150,000 miles. The engine recently shut down and developed a loud mechanical noise. Upon inspection, significant wear/damage was again found involving the right-side exhaust camshaft/valvetrain, and there are concerns involving the timing chain/tensioning system. A failure of these components while driving could cause sudden engine shutdown or loss of power, creating a safety risk. The vehicle has also developed electrical/safety-related problems. The airbag warning light is illuminated, and the steering-wheel controls and steering-wheel illumination are not functioning. The vehicle was involved in an accident in 2019; however, the engine ticking condition was already present before that accident, although it was less noticeable at that time. Despite previous repairs, the engine/valvetrain problem has returned. I am reporting this because the repeated camshaft/valvetrain failure, persistent cylinder #2 issue, possible timing-system problem, and associated risk of engine shutdown appear abnormal and potentially safety-related for a regularly maintained vehicle.
From September 2024 I have a problem with the engine system make a noise i always make oil change on time and also electric problems and seatbelts problems l know a 2 3 owner off jeep wrangler with the same problem
Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
Abs module has been bad now for over 1 years, I was 541 on waiting list with only 2 available nationwide, now still being told not available and "it's okay to drive without it" by the dealership, so no anti lock brakes, no cruise control, no traction control, this module is now over 1400 dollars to install but not available, hmmm part was 200 bucks before all the 2015 jeep wranglers start to experience the same issue and MOPAR wont make the part , it should be a recall before a driver or other road users get KILLED, this is being reported all over the USA, seems like all 2015 modules are the problem, (should have recalled the plastic abs oil cooler that is placed inside of engine block PLASTIC doesn't withstand heat, but I repaired that to a tune of 1800 bucks) then ABS module out jeep dealer put me on the list for part but not able to say if ever the module will be available, I checked Amazon they have them but was instructed not to use the product on my jeep that it would hurt other components on vehicle, PLEASE MAKE MOPAR make and install these faulty abs module, don't let them force the public to drive without safety features mandated in 2012 on all vehicles to have anti lock brakes, thanks for your attention, still waiting for over a year plus for a OEM part so my wife can safely drive the long distances she is required to do , this recall is way over due 😉
My ABS Module has failed with under 12,000 miles on a 2015 Jeep Wrangler JK. This is a known issue with the replacement module either unavailable or, what used to cost a few hundred dollars, now costing a few thousand dollars. Why is a car manufacturer permitted to produce a defective part critical to stopping a vehicle and then be rewarded handsomely for a repair to the issue it created? Many Jeep owners I have encountered are choosing not to repair their vehicles and are on the road in vehicles without antilock brakes. Surely this is a significant safety issue that should be remedied at the manufacturer’s expense.
Electrical
Reports naming the electrical system — wiring, battery, charging, control modules, infotainment and electrical accessories.
From owner reports, verbatim

Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact was informed during a vehicle state inspection of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V018000 (Air Bags), associated with the VIN; however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the recall but informed the contact that parts were not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue but informed the contact that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Driver assistance
Reports naming forward-collision avoidance, lane keeping, back-over prevention, cruise control and related electronic driver-assistance systems.
From owner reports, verbatim
ABS module failed forcing jeep into limp mode. The jeep dealership said the part is on indefinite back order. C2200
In October 2025, the Anti-lock Breaking System (ABS) Brake, traction control, downhill control indicators all illuminated. This also impacts cruise control and acceleration from a stopped position. My repair technician placed an order for the necessary ABS control module with MOPAR. The expected delivery date was August 2026. In August 2026, MOPAR informed them the part was on a nationwide back order with no ETR for resolution. I placed an order for the ABS Module in August 2026, with a suggested date of delivery in two weeks. MOPAR has advised us today 18 August 26, there is no ETR for this critical component to be available. Anti-lock brakes are federally mandated in all vehicles 2012 and beyond. Not having this module disables multiple required safety components in the vehicle not just ABS and puts the consumer, other drivers at risk.
Powertrain (other)
Powertrain reports that are not specifically the engine or transmission — driveshafts, axles, transfer cases and differentials.
From owner reports, verbatim
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate into a higher gear and went into LIMP Mode. The ABS warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel and was also illuminated prior to the failure. The vehicle was driven back to the residence. A few days later, the vehicle operated normally, but the failure recurred after being driven several times. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, where a technician diagnosed the vehicle's ABS module failure. The contact was informed that the ABS module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired out of pocket. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 81,000.
The anti-lock brake system (ABS) control module on my 2015 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited failed, resulting in a C2200 internal ABS module fault. The failure disables the ABS, electronic stability control, and traction control safety systems. The failed component is available for inspection upon request. The initial symptoms were ABS, traction control, and stability control warning lights appearing intermittently. The issue was later confirmed through diagnostic scanning to be an internal ABS control module failure. As the condition progressed, the vehicle lost the speedometer signal and began experiencing abnormal automatic transmission behavior, including delayed shifting, holding gears longer than normal, and higher than expected engine RPMs. This appears to be related to the vehicle losing accurate speed information from the failed ABS system. The vehicle was inspected and diagnosed with the C2200 ABS module fault. The required OEM replacement ABS module is reportedly unavailable through normal parts channels and has been on extended backorder, leaving owners with limited repair options and significant repair costs. This failure presents a safety concern because critical driver assistance systems, including ABS and electronic stability control, are disabled. In addition, the loss of vehicle speed information can affect transmission operation and normal vehicle drivability. The problem appears to be a known failure affecting other vehicles of this generation, and replacement parts are difficult or impossible to obtain through standard repair channels.
Steering
Reports naming the steering system — racks, columns, power-steering assist and steering linkage.
I parked my car fully functioning with no lights on the dash board, after getting back in the car i had the abs light, brake light and stability light on. I checked the codes and i had a C2200 code. The ABS module is bad and the part has been back ordered since 2021 from Jeep/Stelantis. Now the part is discontinued and there is no solution at this time. These cars are driving on the road with no ABS or stability control because the manufacturer has not released a replacement part in over 5 years. This is a major saftey concern and there have already been multiple accidents attributed to this defect. Were not even asking for a free fix we just want our vehicles able to drive safely and there is no option to fix it. This problem is only getting worse as time goes on. This is a widespread issue with 2014-2018 wranglers.
Body & structure
Reports naming the vehicle structure, frame, body panels, doors, hood and trim.
From owner reports, verbatim

WHY NO HELP CRYSLER JEEP!
Oil filter housing assembly failed
Suspension
Reports naming suspension components — springs, struts, shocks, control arms and related hardware.
From owner reports, verbatim
It went into severe vibration and vibration of steering. It was uncontrollable. It happened in my first highway trip since I purchased the vehicle. The vehicle had to be towed 100 miles. Cost of this was $5697.97. After I paid $30,000+. to Autonation in Spring Texas. Car was released to me with no inspection sticker. Electrical issues were looked at by the dealership and said there is nothing wrong. Can not see at night and turning signals work on and off. Defective roof seals that are leaking into the seatbelt tensioners. When I pull seatbelts to buckle they are wet. The tensioners are sitting in water when it rains.
Electronic sway bar failed to reconnect after taking out of four wheel drive. Push button in cab to engage /disengage does nothing. The indicator light in the instrument panel just flashes but there is nothing in the owner’s manual that says what the flashing light means. The vehicle is available for inspection this week but I have to fix it this weekend because it is my daily driver. It has not been inspected by anyone at this time. When I went around the first corner I realized the sway bar was NOT connected and almost lost control of the vehicle. Since I was in the mountains I had no cell phone service and I was by myself so I had no choice but drive the vehicle in this unsafe condition. Upon research online I have found that this is a known problem and there is nothing to tell you if the sway bar is connected or not. Just a flashing “sway bar” indicator light. I have not taken it to a dealership because I don’t trust my local dealership. I have had it take an unusually long time (approx) 10 miles to reengage the last few outings. And the only way I know it reengaged is the flashing light went out but now I have no idea if it’s engaged because the light just flashes
Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.
From owner reports, verbatim
I have been working with multiple mechanics to diagnose an intermittent and unpredictable stalling issue with my 2015 Jeep Wrangler JK Rubicon Unlimited, VIN [XXX] . I have conducted the following repairs to attempt to fix the issue: 1. Rebuilt Transmission 2. Replaced throttle body 3. Replaced PCV 4. Replaced crankshaft sensor 5. Replaced camshaft sensor 6. Replaced Fuel Pump 7. Replaced fuel pump fuse 8. Replaced fuel pump relay fuse Mechanic and I have traced the problem to a likely fault in the TIPM. Due to unpredictability of stalling this has become a safety issue as the car will stall in traffic. Most often between 35-40 mph and below 2000 RPM...this is always while driving and is unsafe for both me and my fellow motorists. Most recent date is noted later in this form. If requested, I can provide receipts for professional repairs noted above, and receipts for parts I have purchased to replace myself. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I have experience a complete loss of control of the vehicle on both highways and streets that are bumpy due to dips, potholes, rough conditions due to the road. I received a misfire on cylinder 4 code P0304 and was told my vehicle isn’t covered for any recalls, but see that this is a common issue in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017 models. I want to know if any recalls or lawsuits are going on because my dealership informed me there aren’t any and it would take a week to even be able to diagnose the issue.
Other / unspecified
Reports whose component NHTSA recorded as unknown, or that do not map to one of the categories above.
From owner reports, verbatim
Abs control module defective per dealer diagnostics (110 bucks) , abs light on, brake light on, traction control light on , little car on downhill slope, safety issues are driving without brake control and steering, parts on back order alot of people flooding internet with same issue, as well as oil cooler, who puts plastic in the middle of a hot motor and thinks that wont break, that should have been a recall that was 1000 replacement now 1400 part replacement because it has to be done at dealer
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the transmission unexpectedly downshifted, and the check engine warning light intermittently flashed on the instrument panel. The contact was able to continue driving. In addition, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine and the failure was progressively worse. The vehicle was taken to a transmission center; however, no cause for the failure was found. The battery was removed and reinstalled. The vehicle software was updated, and the check engine warning light turned off. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, while driving 15 MPH during the rain, the vehicle hydroplaned on the road. The contact's father was driving and was able to control the vehicle. The contact stated that the traction control had failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 134,500.
Seat belts
Reports naming seat belts, buckles, retractors and pretensioners.
From owner reports, verbatim
From September 2024 I have a problem with the engine system make a noise i always make oil change on time and also electric problems and seatbelts problems l know a 2 3 owner off jeep wrangler with the same problem
Drivers side seat belt will not retract back into place it just stays completely out.
Exterior lighting
Reports naming headlights, tail lights, turn signals and other exterior lighting.
From owner reports, verbatim
Appears the Jeep in order to save money has put people in a dangerous issue the vehicle has NO dash light in the day time in less you turn on the parking lights or headlights, I understand that daytime running lights are not required ( SHOULD BE A LAW )there are no daytime running lights so NO dash lights and on a over cast day you can not see the speedometer. I have looked on the Wranglers owners site and appears most jeeps do not have dash lights in the day time the instrument panel sets far enough into the dash you just can not see the instruments. This is a dangerous as you don't know your speed.
STABILITY CONTROL GOES OUT AT 70+ MPH OVER ANY DEVIATION IN THE ROAD SURFACE AND NOT JUST A MAJOR BUMP. I LOSE CONTROL OF THE JEEP COMPLETELY AND HAVE TO TAKE MY FOOT OF THE GAS AND THEN IT WILL RIGHT ITSELF. THIS IS A THREAT TO LIFE AND SAFETY AND FOR A FOUR YEAR VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. ALSO, ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WENT OUT AND THE FUEL GAUGE GOES DOWN AND UP RANDOMLY, THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF WHICH TERRIFY ME AND I AM SHAKEN TO THE CORE AS I DON'T WANT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS I HAVE FOR THE PAST WEEKS AT 3 OR 4 TIMES A WEEK ON AVERAGE! THE SPEEDOMETER GOES DOWN TO 5 MPH THEN BACK UP TO 66MPH THEN BACK DOWN AND MY HEADLIGHT LAMPS FLICKERED ON AND OFF ALL AT THE SAME TIME. ALL FUSES ARE INTACT AND SECURE. THEN THE JEEP WOULD START AND I CHECKED THE FUSES AND MADE SURE THEY WERE SECURE AND IT STARTED AGAIN. I NEED HELP AND AM FEARFUL FOR MY LIFE USING THIS JEEP AND HAVE ONLY HAD IT A YEAR. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A 4 YO VEHICLE. PLEASE ASSIST ME. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

Interior & seats
Reports naming seats, latches, locks, linkages and interior fittings.
From owner reports, verbatim
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER FOLDING DOWN THE REAR SEAT, THE SEAT FAILED TO LOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LITHIA CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE OF CORPUS CHRISTI (4313 S STAPLES ST, CORPUS CHRISTI, TX 78411), BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE WHY THE SEAT WOULD NOT LOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
I DID GET INTO A MINOR ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING ONTO A ON RAMP AND MY VEHICLE SKIDDED THE GUARD RAIL. I EXITED THE VEHICLE TO CHECK FOR DAMAGE AND SAW A FLAME NEAR THE HOOD OF THE CAR AND IMMEDIATELY EXITED. THE GAS TANK WAS NEVER HIT NOR DID I HAVE A MAJOR DIRECT COLLISION IN THE ACCIDENT HOWEVER WITHIN SECONDS THE VEHICLE BURST INTO FLAMES AND WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE AND MY PERSONAL CONTENTS INSIDE MELTED INTO NOTHING. I LOVED JEEPS BUT THE INCIDENT HAS PERSUADED ME TO AVOID PURCHASING THEM FOR THE NEAR FUTURE.

Visibility
Reports naming windshields, glass, wipers, defrosters and mirrors.
From owner reports, verbatim
JEEP WRANGLER JK UNLIMITED SPORT S 35K MILES. VEHICLE WIPERS WILL NOT TURN OFF. ISSUES WHERE THE WIPERS CAN BE ACTIVATED WITH THE FOG LIGHT CONTROL AND VICE VERSA. THE FOG LIGHTS CAN COME ON AT RANDOM AND BEGIN TO FLASH ON AND OFF. IT IS TRULY FRUSTRATING TO NOT BE ABLE TO TURN MY WIPERS OFF. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS BOTH THE WIPER SWITCH AND HEADLIGHT/FOG LIGHT SWITCH WERE SHORTING AND BOTH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ESTIMATE WAS $700 FOR REPAIR. THIS IS REDICULOUS FOR A 3 YEAR OLD VEHICLE AND JUST MONTHS OUT OF THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY. MY GUESS IS THAT IF REPLACE BOTH THE SWITCHES, THE ISSUE WILL RETURN AND THEN THE TRUE CAUSE, WHICH I SUSPECT TO BE THE TIPM, WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR ANOTHER $1200.
IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT THE JEEP WRANGLER HEATER CORE PREMATURELY CLOGS AND SUBSEQUENTLY FAILS CAUSING LESS HEAT FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE DEFROSTER VENTS. DURING THIS RECENT COLD SNAP IN MICHIGAN THE DEFROSTER STRUGGLED TO ADEQUATELY CLEAR THE WINDSHIELD OF FROST AND SNOW AND I FELT THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. I APPROACHED MY JEEP DEALER AND THEY SAID "YEAH THE HEATER CORES GO OUT EARLY" NOTHING WE CAN DO, IT WILL BE $1500-2000 TO REPAIR AS IT INVOLVES REMOVING THE ENTIRE DASH. I HAVE NEVER HAD A HEATER CORE CLOG WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES, THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND IN COLD WEATHER CLIMATES COLD POSE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD. A BRIEF SEARCH OF THE INTERNET LEADS TO A PENDING CLASS ACTION WEBSITE FURTHER GIVING PROOF TO THE WIDESPREAD KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE WEBSITE IS: HTTPS://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/NEWS/2017/JEEP-WRANGLER-HEATER-CORE-REPLACEMENT-LAWSUIT-CHALLENGED.SHTML I WOULD ASK NHTSA TO LOOK INTO THIS FURTHER AS NOT HAVING ADEQUATE DEFROSTING CAPABILITIES COULD HINDER DRIVER VISION OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD AND SIDE FRONT WINDOWS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY FAILED TWICE. THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURRED AT 7,000 MILES IN THE LEFT LANE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE SECOND TIME OCCURRED AT 13,900 MILES. THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER THE RAILROAD TRACKS BY TEN FEET AND WAS ABOVE THE TRACK WHEN THE CLUTCH FAILED TO SHIFT AND MANEUVER PROPERLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO SWIFTLY GET THE VEHICLE OVER THE RAILROAD TRACKS. EAST HILLS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM SRT (2300 NORTHERN BLVD, GREENVALE, NY 11548, 516-621-9191) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INDICATED THAT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NEEDED TO DETERMINE IF THE PRESSURE PLATE OR CLUTCH SPRING WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. TSB NUMBER: 06-001-15 WAS MENTIONED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED TWICE BEFORE BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,721.
