2016 Jeep Wrangler Problems

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced an ABS module failure. The ABS and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was contacted and diagnosed the vehicle with ABS control module failure; however, the part to repair the vehicle was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time to provide the parts for the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but was unable to determine when parts for the repair would be available. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.

The ABS control module has internal problem which shuts down the module. Results of the module shut down includes: -The stability and traction systems are offline. -A failure in the ABS module or hydraulic unit. -Cruise Control inoperable. -The module no longer modulates brake pressure, which can result in brakes locking. Currently, Mopar has stopped production of this item, so there is no method to replace a failed or non-working module with an original part.

I feel the car slow down and stomp on the gas but it goes all the way to the floor and nothing happens. When I try to go into the break down lane, the steering wheel locks up and won’t turn. Usually I take the key out then put it back in the ignition and it starts no problem. Recently, the engine has been stalling when I put the key back in the ignition. I usually have to take the key out and sit on the side of the highway for 5 minutes before starting it up with no problem. This has happened too many times than I’d like to admit. Take it to the shop, no codes come up. Sometimes the engine light will turn on when this happens, other times it doesn’t.

Anti-Lock Brake System stopped working rendering the car inoperable. The first incident: about 5 years ago the ABS engaged the brakes while driving almost causing a collision. This incident occurred in Guaynabo, PR. After this incident the ABS Module stopped working but the car was still operable. A week ago the PCM lost communication with the ABS module bringing the car into "limp mode" (stuck in 3rd gear until y did not longer engaged the transmission. Also the speedometer stopped working.) This happened while driving on a Sunday on busy road. This has been a common issue with Jeep Wranglers made from 2012 to 2018. The company at this moment is not producing replacement parts (ABS Modules) for these vehicles leaving owners without any way to fix or use their cars. ABS Module DTC's: -C2200 -U0100 -U0141 -U0126 -U0002 While scanning the module comes and goes offline.

I recently got into an accident in my 2016 Jeep Wrangler. My airbags never deployed however. Also my buttons on the left side of my steering wheel do not work and my horn does not work. After realizing all this I believe it is an issue with the clock spring. I did research and found in 2024 there was a recall for the clock spring but only in the RHD model. My car is a LHD model but it seems the same issue has occurred and my clock spring failed.

An independent mechanic informed the contact that the vehicle was taken to the shop for repair, or he could replace the wiper blade switch on the steering column. The contact repaired the vehicle himself. The contact stated that after the repair was completed, while driving out of the driveway at approximately 2 MPH, the driver's side front air bag deployed. The contact followed the instructions to install the wiper blade switch carefully. The contact was still only able to use the wipers on the fast speed setting. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 132,552.

I was driving down the road in a snow storm when all of a sudden the vehicle started swirling all over the road. I pulled over and looked underneath and something was hanging down. I had no choice but to drive it slow less than 10mph to make it home as it was also making a hard jumping. Once there I had my mechanic come look at it and the drive shaft was busted. I am extremely luck that this happened during a snow storm because if not I may have rolled the vehicle as the steering was greatly affected.

Unsafe Vehicle, Unresolved Mechanical Failures – Serious Safety Concern On [XXX], I purchased a Jeep (VIN: [XXX] ) from Whipple Auto Sales. Since the purchase, the vehicle has experienced repeated mechanical failures that have created serious safety concerns. Approximately two weeks after purchase, the dealership replaced a fuel injector due to performance issues. About one month later, the vehicle began showing sensor codes and experienced sudden power loss while driving. On [XXX] the vehicle completely shut off while I was traveling on the highway, placing my safety at significant risk. The dealership initially stated that the key required reprogramming. However, after keeping the vehicle for approximately one month, they were still unable to repair the issue. The dealership later claimed the problem was related to the powertrain. Without resolving the issue or providing proper notice, they returned the vehicle to my residence in worse condition than when it was left with them. At this time, the vehicle is unsafe and unreliable, and I cannot confidently operate it. This situation demonstrates a lack of proper repair, accountability, and resolution. I am extremely concerned about the safety and reliability of this vehicle and the dealership’s handling of this matter. I am seeking a proper resolution to this issue. The ABS module has failed and this is such a widespread issue with Jeep Wranglers that you can't even find a new ABS module part to order. The failure of this part impacts the braking system. Jeep should make a recall and fix this issue.

Pulled into parking space. Applied brakes and came to a complete stop. Could hear engine revving up.. Thought ok, that gas pedal seem to be pressed. Look at my foot wasn’t pressing the pedal. Looked at floor mats. It was laying flat on floor, not manipulating the pedal. I thought what’s happening? And lifted foot off brake ever so slightly and car jumped 6 inch high curb and hit the building.. Pretty hard. Caused structural damage to the wall. I went to the hospital, driven by husband. Swelling of my right leg on the shin. Released and told to stay off leg for few days, no fractures.After doing research, It seems other jeep riders have had this experience. I have no idea how fast the jeep was going.

ABS module reported to dealer in February, 2025..They said was safe to drive. Then April 2025 the module went out.-Part has been on backorder since March 2025. It was taken to Key Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Marianna in March 2025. Jeep would not steer properly, the brakes were not normal and all the warning lights on dash were on. I could not drive. .

MY DAUGHTER HAD HER RIGHT HAND PINKY FINGER TOP SEMI AMPTUATED WITH A TUFT FRACTURE WITH THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR OF THE STRIKER AND LATCH. THIS HAPPENED ON JAN 2019 AND WE PAID OVER 10K IN MEDICAL BILLS AND HER PINKY IS DISFIGURED. WE HAVEN'T REACH OUT TO LAWYERS BUT WE DO SEE A FLAW WITH THE STRIKER AND DOOR SETUP WITH THE 4 DOOR JEEPS THAT A REDESIGN OR COVER WOULD HELP. THE ISSUE IS ANY BOOSTER SEAT OR CHILD CAR SEAT PUTS A TODDLER OR KIDS HAND/FINGERS AT RISK WHICH FALL WITHIN 1-2 INCHES FROM THE BRACKET OF THE DOOR OF THE ARM REST OF MOST MAJOR BRAND SEATS. THIS SITS LEVEL TO THE STRIKER AND LATCH. THE PROXIMITY OF THE SEATBELT AND THE LEVEL AT THE DOOR STRIKER IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR LITTLE ONES SITTING IN BACK. THERE IS NO GUARD OR BARRIER TO PREVENT FROM TINY FINGER BEING CAUGHT IN THE STACK AND BEING STRUCK BY THE DOOR OR STRIKER. FROM THE INSIDE, WITH THE DOOR CLOSED, YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THE REAR DOOR STRIKER AND LATCH. NOT ONLY FINGERS BUT HAIR TOO IS A PROBLEM. THIS IS CONCERNING TO US EVERY TIME WE PUT OUR LITTLE ONES IN THE BACK. IF NEED BE I CAN SEND A VIDEO OF IT AND REPLICATE THE RISK. HOWEVER, THE DEALER USED A REPAIR KIT TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE REPAIR PERFORMED BUT IT FAILED TO REMEDY THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. I bought Jeep from dealership gas keeps overflowing out of tank during fill ups. Check engine light now on

My 2016 jeep wrangler jk will just stop running all power is lost, it's happened on the freeway as well as around town multiple times.. I get no codes. Once I can pull off the hiway it has always started back up after removing key and placing key back in ignition it starts again.. but it's has happened several times.. my wife and kids a to afraid to drive for fear it will happen again.

The contact called another local dealer, AJ Dohmann Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (24945 LA-1 S, Plaquemine, LA 70764), who confirmed that the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The ABS Traction Control Module in this year, and surrounding year, Jeep Wranglers continues to fail. Now Jeep has stated that the part is under engineering review and not available till June timeframe. Therefore, these vehicles no longer have anti lock brakes or traction control safety features. This is a widespread issue and should be a recall on these modules.

The front passenger seatbelt wasn’t working properly and we noticed the belt was frayed so we ordered a new one from car parts direct. Today while taking the old belt out we noticed that the seatbelt unit itself wasn’t bolted into the jeep. It was bolted off to the side causing it to be crooked which is why the belt frayed because the entire unit was not in properly. The bolt that should be holding it in is still in the jeep yet the seatbelt unit came out very easily and you can clearly see where the bolt was sitting. I will include photos.

My 2016 jeep wrangler, is having major issues. My seatbelts completely stopped working last week February 3, 2023. I had left the mechanics because I had the back window replaced, and the back hood of my jeep wrangler. When pulling out of their driveway, I realized my seatbelt was very tight, but I still got to hook it. When I got home from my drive one and a half hours away, I went to use my car and the seat belts would not work. Driver side and passenger side seat belts have completely seized. Has my jeep wrangler 2016 had any recalls. My son died December 10, 2019. I have never had any other problems with my jeep wrangler. I believe in jeep and the company who makes them. The body shop told me to get rid of my jeep. I cannot do that and since my son died in my jeep wrangler and drug dealers threw him in the back seat, letting him die after they stuck him with a needle full of fentanyl. Please help I do not want to part with my jeep wrangler. I am sure with the Vin number you will be able to trace anything that has gone on with my Jeep! I could have missed many recalls because my son was very sick, from 2016 until his death 2019. I purchased the car brand new in 2016 in upstate New York. Please tell me how I can get help so my seatbelt will work again and the airbag can be inspected. It must be a recall issue I can’t think of anything else and I need your help. I now live in Port Charlotte, Florida, and I am near my daughter. This jeep wrangler has been very good to us. It saved my son’s life and his girlfriends in that prior accident. This vehicle is not suitable for driving, it has suspension, alignment, brake and speed problems. I was about to have an accident, I was going down an avenue and suddenly the wheels stopped and the car began to move from one side to the other and I lost stability of the steering wheel and the car, putting my life and the lives of my family (my girlfriend and my mother) at risk, luckily I did not cause an accident because there was no car in the side lane ... It is impossible to drive this car, the next day I took the car to a detailed inspection at a mechanical workshop specialized in Jeeps and indeed it has serious and serious problems with the car. There are images where the lights on the dashboard are on and the engine is also overheated ... Driver had 50,000 miles maintenance service scheduled when the engine light went on a week prior to the service date. The headlamp assembly lenses have become warped and frosted due to excessive heat from the bulb and defective heat dissipation from the headlamp assembly . Poor visibility at night, as light output is significantly diminished creating a safety hazard..

THE BACK SEAT WHEN IN THE UP POSITION FLOPS BACK AND FORTH WITH NO WAY TO LOCK IN IT IN. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED FROM HIGH SPEEDS THE BACK SEAT SPRINGS FORWARD HITTING BOTH FRONT SEATS VERY HARD WHICH RESULTS IN THE DRIVER AND THE PASSENGERS BEING PUSHED HARD INTO THE DASHBOARD. THE SEAT ALSO WILL UNFOLD IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE CRUSHING ANYTHING IN THE BACK INCLUDING MY DOG WHO WAS INJURED WHILE RIDING IN THE BACK.

DRIVER SEAT AND PASSENGER SEAT ROCKED FORWARD TO BACK , LOOSE AND A SAFETY CONCERN HAD BACK TO DEALER 3 TIMES , REPLACED SEAT FRAME 1 TIME AND RESULT WAS WORSE THAN BEFORE, WAS TOLD NO ISSUE AND ALL WERE LIKE THAT, SEAT IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS YOU ARE NOT STABLE WHEN DRIVING ------------

2016 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR. THE CONSUMER STATED, ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE TIRES DEVELOPED CRACKS IN THE SIDEWALLS.
