The defect: PARK BRAKE ACUATOR LEVER COULD FAIL AND BRAKE WOULD NOT ENGAGE WHEN THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER IS PUT IN THE "P" PARK POSITION.
The risk: VEHICLE COULD MOVE AFTER IT IS PARKED, CREATING POTENTIALFOR A CRASH AND INJURY.
The remedy: REPLACE PARK BRAKE ACTUATOR LEVER WITH LEVER OF HEAVIER DUTY DESIGN.

The defect: BRAKE HOSE WHICH DIRECTS OIL FROM THE HYDRO MAX BRAKE UNIT TO A STEEL TUBE CONNECTED TO THE SUPPLY PART ON THE PARK BRAKE RELAY VALVE MAY CONTAIN DEFECTS AND LEAK OIL FROM THE BOOSTER SYSTEM.
The risk: REDUCTION IN HYDRAULIC BOOST PRESSURE AND EVENTUALOPERATION OF THE BACK UP BRAKE SYSTEM AND/OR MANUAL BRAKES ONLY.
The remedy: A NEW IMPROVED HOSE WILL BE INSTALLED IN PLACE OF THE DEFECTIVE ONE.

NHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
