The defect: KAWASAKI IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2011 NINJA ZX-10R, AND 2009-2012 NINJA ZX-6R MOTORCYCLES MANUFACTURED FROM DECEMBER 14, 2007 THROUGH JULY 26, 2011. DUE TO A MANUFACTURING ERROR, THE REGULATOR/RECTIFIER MAY INSUFFICIENTLY CHARGE THE BATTERY.
The risk: IF THE BATTERY DISCHARGES, THE MOTORCYCLE MAY STALL WITHOUT WARNING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: KAWASAKI WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 24, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KAWASAKI AT 949-770-0400.

I purchased this bike and have not been able to ride it, due to the severity of the safety and mechanical issues the dealer failed to disclose to me. Once I got the bike home and had it inspected by a reputable mechanic, he informed me the dealer couldn’t have inspected this bike without seeing the multitude of dangerous, and illegal modifications. The brake switch was disconnected, the kickstand sensor was bypassed. Emissions tube has a screw in it as a makeshift plug of sorts. The frame is modified and the balance of the bike is off. The dealer was negligent in ensuring the safety of the motorcycle before selling it. There were no warning lamps or other indicators of a problem, because they have all been bypassed and/or faulty.
