2009 Keystone Laredo Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2009 Keystone Laredo, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.

Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

KEYSTONE RECREATION VEHICLES FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS HAVE BEEN USING THE GOODYEAR MARATHON ST235 80R 16 E TIRES. THESE TIRE ARE LISTED AS TRAILER TIRES, THEY FAIL UNDER NORMAL USE. I HAVE HAD 3 TIRES 2 YEARS OLD WITH LESS THAN 10,000 MILES BLOW OUT IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS DUE TO TIRE FAILURE. IN MY RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER KEYSTONE RECREATIONAL VEHICLE OWNERS HAVING THE SAME HEAVY FAILURE RATE THAT LUCKILY TO THIS DATE HAS NOT CAUSED LOSS OF LIFE. THESE FAILURES HAVE CAUSED INJURIES, AND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS DOLLARS OF DAMAGE. THESE FAILURES HAVE CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLES. *TR

THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER ON MY 2009 KEYSTONE COUGAR 318 WITH THE BIKE RACK IS DRAGGING THE GROUND WHEN I DRIVE OVER AND INCLINE SUCH AS A DRIVEWAY ENTRANCE OR SIDE STREET. THERE IS A RECALL ( NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V063000 ) FOR UNITS WITH 16 IN. WHEELS, BUT NOT FOR 15 IN. WHEELS LIKE I HAVE. I HAVE HAD THE CARRIER REPAIRED ONCE, BUT IT IS DAMAGED AGAIN. ALSO THERE IS NO COUGAR MODEL LISTED UNDER THE KEYSTONE MANUFACTURER. *TR

2009 KEYSTONE LAREDO TRAVEL TRAILER. AS I WAS BACKING UP MY TRAILER TO PARK IT, MY STABILIZING CHAINS PINCHED THE WIRING FOR MY BREAKAWAY BRAKES WHICH IS MOUNTED ON THE FRAME. A FIRE RESULTED AND BURNED THE WIRING. I HAD TO PUT THE FIRE OUT TO AVOID MORE DAMAGE AS IT WAS VERY CLOSE TO THE 2 PROPANE TANKS. I HAD TO REPLACE THE WIRING AND RUN IT UP UNDER THE FRAME TO AVOID THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. THE POSITIONING OF THE WIRES MAKES IT VERY SUBJECTIVE TO FURTHER INCIDENCES. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
