2014 Kia Sorento Interior & seats Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the interior system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Interior & seats reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Well my boyfriend and I where getting the car straightened up swept out wiped down and cleaned up and drove it from one part of our yard to the other and we had to finish what we where doing before that so and hour or so later when my. Boy friend went to go finish the car he realized there was smoke coming from the driver's side and opened the front door and the whole front driver seat was on fire so we got it put out and then we realized we needed to get the car as far away from the house as we could as soon as we got the fire out so I found a lid to it on I had to push a release button under the shifter to move it outta park and stear it away from any other houses or objects so we did that and then the lights for the heated seats on the driver's side came on again without the key that I know of being in it or nothen and it just being on fire so we u plugged to battery and called kia and a town truck

Constant issue with the 3 doors staying locked. Must manually push on the plastic mechanism to unlock the door from the inside. Using the inside door knob will not unlock the doors which is a major safety hazard. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times and they can not duplicate the issue. It started out happening intermittingly, but now it is constant. The only door that works is the driver side. I took it to a local repair shop and he said it "could" be every door needs a new actuator. Very expensive repair. This should be a recall item ASAP. Low quality product failure. There are no warning lights.

Headlights continually need replacing. We must replace headlights every few months. We have tried several brands of lights and regardless they go out. We have had all the lights go out at once while driving at night. Cruise control no longer works. I had the clock spring replaced but this did not fix the cruise. Seat warmer Driver side seat warmer no longer engages. When the button is pressed, the indicator light flashes as if it will come on but never does.

I'VE ONLY HAD MY 2014 KIA SORENTO FOR A YEAR, FROM 2020-2021. I'VE NOTICED THESE PROBLEMS IN THE BEGINNING AND ASSUMED THEY WOULD WORK ITSELF OUT BECAUSE THE DEALER MENTIONED THAT THE CONDITIONS WERE MINOR BUT THEY ONLY PROGRESSED. I'M PUTTING OIL IN THIS VEHICLE EVERY THREE TO FOUR DAYS BECAUSE THE OIL STICK IS CLEAN ( INDICATING NO OIL). THE ENGINE LIGHT HAS ALWAYS BEEN ON. I'VE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL MECHANICS, INCLUDING THE MECHANIC THAT WORKS DIRECTLY WITH THE DEALERSHIP IN WHICH I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE. THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME BACK AND WHENEVER IT STARTED TO BLINK IT WOULD CAUSE MY VEHICLE TO JERK EXCESSIVELY AND FORCEFULLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND MAIN HIGHWAYS EACH TIME CAUSING THE SPEED TO DECREASE . SAME THING WITH THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT, IT'S ALWAYS BEEN ON AND I WAS TOLD TO IGNORE IT. AND THE DRIVER SEAT DOES NOT MOVE, I WAS TOLD A SIMPLE SMALL GREEN FUSE (30) WOULD FIX THAT AND I PURCHASED SEVERAL AND EACH TIME THE MECHANIC WOULD INSERT ONE OF THE FUSES, YOU COULD HEAR A POP. I WAS TOLD NOT TO TOUCH IT OR IT COULD START A FIRE (THE FUSE BOX AREA). AS OF TODAY (APRIL 20, 2021) MY 2014 KIA SORENTO STILL HAVE THESE DANGEROUS ISSUES. VERY DANGEROUS AND SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY NOT RIGHT UNDER THE HOOD.

THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY BEFORE SOMEONE BURNS ALIVE.THE THIRD ROW SEAT IS A DEATHTRAP. IT IS IMMPOSSIBLE TO EXIT THE THIRD ROW SEAT WHEN THE SECOND ROW SEAT IS OCCUPIED. IN CASE OF AN ACCODENT OR EMERGENCY THE PEOPLE IN THE THIRD ROW CANNOT EXIT THE VEHICLE- THEY ARE TRAPPED. IT WOULD ALSO BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR EMERGENCY PERSONNEL TO RESCUE THEM IF THE 2ND ROW OCCUPANTS ARE INCOMPACITATED. IF THE VEHICLE HAPPENS TO CATCH FIRE THE THIRDROW OCVUPENTS WILL LIKELY PERISH UNABLE TO EXIT THE THIRD ROW. THIS COULD BE REMEDIED BY REPLACING THE 2ND ROW BENCH SEAT WITH TWO CAPTAINS CHAIRS WHICH WOULD ALLOW AN AISLE TO EXIT FROM THE THIRD ROW. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. PLEASE FOLLOW-UP WITH ME ON THIS MATTER.

2014 KIA SORRENTO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THE DRIVER SEAT, ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDAL ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VERY LARGE SEATS WERE A PROBLEM FOR HER, AS THEY WERE HARD TO ADJUST. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, IN THE MOST FORWARD AND HIGHEST SEAT POSITION, WAS SO GREAT, SHE WAS ONLY ABLE TO ENGAGE THE PEDALS WITH HER TOES. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE COULD BARELY SEE THE HOOD AND COULDN'T SEE OR DISTANCE THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THEREFORE, SHE WAS FORCED TO USE BOTH A MANUFACTURER'S VEHICLE SEAT CUSHION AND A THICK CHAIR CUSHION UNDERNEATH THAT, TO BE ABLE TO RAISE HER BODY UP AND CLOSER TO THE DASH. ALSO, THERE WAS AND CONTINUES TO BE A SUBTLE, CHIRPING, RHYTHMIC SOUND COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE OR WHEEL WELL. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN STATED HE DID NOT HEAR A NOISE. THE TRACTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THE TIRES HAD NO TRACTION, AS THEY DID NOT GRIP THE ROAD PROPERLY. SHE WAS INFORMED THE TIRES WERE INFERIOR, SO SHE WAS FORCED TO PURCHASE 4 NEW WINTER TIRES AT A COST OF $ 657.18. *JB UPDATED 04/21/14. *JB
