The defect: KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain 2019-2023 Husqvarna and KTM motorcycles with equipped with TKC80 tires. Please refer to KTM's recall report for specific model details. Cracks longer than 3/16 inch may develop in the tread grooves. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 119, "New Pneumatic Tires-Other Than Passenger Cars."
The risk: Cracks in the tread can lead to tread separation, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will replace the affected tires, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 16, 2022. Owners may contact KTM's customer service at 1-888-985-6090. KTM's numbers for this recall are KTB2208 and HTB2207.

The rear brake switch has failed 3 times on the motorcycle. It is a hydraulic switch and has been replaced under warranty 2 times. After the second replacement it has failed again. My safety is put at risk if I use the brakes and the brake light does not come on, this could cause a vehicle to impact the rear of the motorcycle when the brake light does not illuminate due to braking. When the component was replaced, it was done under warranty at the dealer, the whereabouts of previously failed parts is unknown and may have been discarded. There were no warning messages or lights indicating the failure, the only indication is by visual inspection during periodic maintenance and at night noticing that the lamp was no longer illuminating when the rear brakes were used. All correspondence with the dealer was verbal but they do have records of the services. During my research of this issue I find many forums with 2020 KTM models experiencing failure of this brake switch from what i have found it appears 790 models may be affected as well.

Continental Tire the Americas, LLC (“CTA”) has determined that certain TKC 80 tires fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 119, "New pneumatic tires - other than passenger cars." CTA has initiated a tire safety recall to remove these tires from service. The KTM models listed above were originally equipped with TKC 80 brand tires. CTA has determined that groove cracks in the tread rubber developed during internal testing. Groove cracking may appear during the tire service life and can lead to tread separation, increasing the risk of a crash. On the specified 690, 890, 1090 and 1290 Models listed above only the originally equipped TKC 80 front tire is affected and needs replaced. On the specified 250, 350, 450 and 500 EXC-F Models listed above both the originally equipped TKC 80 front and rear tires are affected and need replaced. Customers that still have originally equipped TKC 80 tires mounted on their motorcycle are eligible to have the recall tire replacement performed by an authorized KTM dealer.

It has been determined that a certain number of 2020 1290 Super Duke R models were not delivered with the Connectivity Control Unit (CCU) and/or the latest software version for the CCU. Therefore, KTM MY RIDE was inactive from delivery and must be activated. Due to a supply problem some motorcycles did not receive the CCU and an inspection must be performed to determine if it is installed. To ensure all functions are present, the CCU must be updated, and then KTM MY RIDE must be activated.

It is possible that the 2020 1290 Super Duke R was not delivered with the latest software version available. Therefore, the control units listed below that are installed on the motorcycle must be checked to verify they have the latest software version downloaded. If they don’t have the latest version they must be updated.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM; ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:MOTORCYCLE HANDLEBAR SWITCH POD LEFT/RIGHT

KTM North America, Inc. would like to inform you of certain fault possibilities that could occur with the left side handlebar switch (p.n. 61711070000) that is mounted on the 2020 1290 Super Duke R. This new generation handlebar switch is similar to an ECU and should never be disassembled or opened (as noted in repair manual). This information is meant to help you diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve the three following possibilities.
