Our database holds 45 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2007 Lexus LS. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. A complaint is not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. Narratives are shown exactly as filed.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

During major collision/ ACCIDENT, AIRBAGS did NOT deploy..
The contact owns a 2007 Lexus LS460. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated while responding. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but no diagnostic trouble codes were retrieved; however, the contact was informed that the failure was related to the knock sensors. The contact related the failure to TSB: L-SB-0122-17, which the contact stated was to be performed after the completion of NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V309000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) to prevent the engine hesitation while driving. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.
My vehicle brake, ABS, lights are on the dashboard, Lexus has deemed the vehicle unsafe to drive due to the brake actuator being faulty causing internal damage to the ABS, junction box this is a $5000 repair, upon my research I find that service bulletin were issued years ago about this from Lexus and they reimbursed or repaired these issues during a good will campagne they initiated, was advised by a Lexus member of corporate that the letter came out for my vehicle but I was not the owner at the time, they are now saying its expired and nothing they can do. This does not waive their responsibility of this defect, which is not a wear and tear item. I have tried to allow Lexus to remedy this situation only to be hit with resistance. Please see attached

This car has a melty / sticky peeling interior defect issue. I bought my 2007 LS 460L in October 2019. I had my daughter a year later. As she grew and rode in the vehicle she started scrapping and consuming the door panel. I did not know the interior could be consumed, as I did not think about eating the interior pieces. Kids think differently. My family is at health risk from this consumable interior. I'm trying to get Pines Lexus to fix this issue but they say too much time has passed and I have to pay for this myself. I purchased the vehicle in 2019, they did not warn me of the car's defects and safety issues. The interior should be a safety recall with no expiration. Please assist.
The brake actuator is a well known failure component with these cars and yet no recall has been issued. It's almost $4,000 to repair this defective component.
Brake actuator along with other safety brake codes .
A/c servo motor is an issue.
Brake system broke brake actuator and fuse panel associated with brake relay
I have purchased 3 tires through Amazon. 2 tires on February 14th 2023 and 1 tire on July 25th 2023. I have since replaced 2 tires due to them being defective. The latest tire purchased February 14th 2023 now has a bubble on the tire. All tires have been professionally installed and balanced. I would like to get this resolved as soon as possible. Tires should last longer than this. I have attached invoices and pictures. Multiple attempts have been made to contact Amazon and Turbo Wholesale without any resolve. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) Thank you, Amir Azam
For the Ls460, there was a recall due to interior component deterioration during Covid. I believe that during COVID lockdowns, dealerships were understaffed, as I was unable to schedule an appointment. When I contacted after the COVID lockdowns were over, I was informed that I was unable to complete the recall. The interior of the car is now deteriorating far worse. How can I get an extension of this recall?
We were driving to Fort Bragg, CA on Hwy 20 W of Willits, CA in the mountains out of cell service, and the car was surging like it was out of gas, would not respond to throttle input, then just died. This put us in danger because we were heading down a steep hill on a narrow 2 lane road, and could easily have lost control from loss of braking and handling due to loss of power steering & power brakes. I was able to coast a few yards and immediately pull off into a small cut out on a corner and stop. I have no idea if the recall to fix the defective valve springs was completed on this car because I purchased it used in 2015. I had previously mentioned it to the Roseville CA Lexus Service department, and he dismissed it as the "car recalibrating itself" after every oil change. There were no warning lights or messages until the engine died, then all the lights came on immediately. Once we pulled over, I tried to restart and it would not start. We had over 1/2 a tank of gas, and the engine temp was normal. In fact, there was no warning prior to the engine dying - it just stopped and never started back up. I had the car towed to Freeman Lexus in Santa Rosa, CA and they finally determined that a valve spring had "let go", causing the engine to fail. I am convinced that the valve spring was defective per the recall in 2010 that addressed this very issue.
the dashboard and the dash material on tue top of the doors are gummy/ melting
Brakes aren’t working at all. Have already replaced actuator and other braking components. Sparks Toyota is saying it’s the brake actuator and accumulator very expensive fix. Car slides when trying to apply brakes. Several complaints filed
Lexus whom parent company is Toyota manufactured the 2007 Lexus LS 460. This Lexus was manufactured with a dangerous part which is the Brake Actuator. This part fails leaving the vehicle unable to move. Which is very dangerous to consumers as this can happen anywhere at anytime. Lexus acknowledges this mistake and fixed some vehicles when in fact a recall should have been placed to fix them all. This was unfair as many consumers are purchasing these vehicles not knowing of this issue (even when Lexus Toyota did).
LEXUS HAD RECEIVED NUMEROUS REPORTS WHERE VARIOUS BRAKE SYSTEM RELATED WARNING LAMPS ILLUMINATE DUE TO INTERNAL MALFUNCTIONS OF THE BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY. WHILE MY 2007 LS 460'S BRAKE ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED UNDER THIS RECALL/WARRANTY AND WAS REPLACED 3 YEARS AGO, MY VEHICLE CONTINUES TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THE LEXUS'S RECALL LETTER DATED APRIL 19, 2016 TO ME STATED THAT THE PRIMARY COVERAGE OFFERS WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2017, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE AFTER THE PRIMARY COVERAGE END, THE SECONDARY COVERAGE IS APPLICABLE FOR 10 YEARS FROM THE DATE OF FIRST USE, OR 150,000 MILES, WHICHEVER OCCURS FIRST. LEXUS IS REFUSING TO REPLACE THE FAULTY BRAKE ACTUATOR. THIS CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE FOR MOST OF THE LS 460 VEHICLES THAT HAD THE BRAKE ACTUATORS REPLACED.
THERE IS A SAFETY RELATED DEFECT IN MY VEHICLE WHICH CAN CAUSE THE BRAKING SYSTEM TO FAIL COMPLETELY. I DO LOT OF HIGHWAY DRIVING AND SOME LIGHTS LIKE ABS , TRACTION , BRAKE AND WARNING TURN ON AND MY BRAKE SYSTEM STARTS BEHAVING BAD. AFTER SOME RESEARCH AND TALKING TO LEXUS DEALERSHIP I FOUND OUT THAT THIS MODEL HAS A DESIGN DEFECT AND THE BRAKE ACTUATOR GO BAD. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT SHOULD BE A RECALL BUT LEXUS INSTEAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THIS ITEM AND HAVE REPLACED THIS DEVICE FOR FREE ON THESE MODELS BUT WHEN I CALLED THEY SAID WARRANTY IS NOT GOING TO COVER IT AND I HAVE TO PAY OUT OF MY POCKET. IT COSTS ROUGHLY $3000 PARTS AND LABOR. I DO NOT WANT TO SELL MY CAR IN THIS CONDITION AS I DO NOT WANT THE BUYER TO DIE FROM IT. LOT OF PEOPLE ARE BUYING THESE CARS WITHOUT KNOWING THAT THERE IS A BIG RISK AND THEY MAY LOOSE THEIR LIVES. I REQUEST SAFETY ADMINISTRATION TO COME FORWARD AND LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE AND SAVE 100S OF LIVES. JUST IMAGINE YOU ARE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY HAVE BRAND NEW BRAKE PADS NEW TIRES AND ALL OF A SUDDEN YOUR BRAKING SYSTEM FAILS AND YOU LOOSE YOUR LIFE. PLEASE TAKE ACTION.
OCT. 29, 2019 MID-MORNING VEHICLE WAS SOUTHBOUND ON US HWY. 2 IN NORTH HERO, VT. VEHICLE CROSSED THE NORTHBOUND LANE AND CRASHED IN A GRASSY FIELD: CAME TO REST UPSIDE DOWN, RIGHT FRONT WHEEL TORN LOOSE FROM THE AXLE. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. INJURED DRIVER WAS IN EMERGENCY ROOM 3 TIMES, HOSPITALIZED IN ICU FOR TWO PERIODS, NUMEROUS PROCEDURES, FOLLOW-UP CRANIOTOMY IN 2020, ANTI SEIZURE MEDICATIONS. POLICE REPORT, EMS REPORT, AND INSURANCE ADJUSTER INSPECTION COULD BE MADE AVAILABLE.
THE BRAKE ACTUATOR ON THIS VEHICLE FAILS AND DISABLES THE ABS SYSTEM. THIS IS A COSTLY FIX FOR COMSUMERS.
WHEN DRIVING WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON VSC(VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL), TRACTION CONTROL, CHECK ENGINE; WARNING TEXT TO TAKE TO DEALER. THE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT WORK AND THE PERFORMANCE OF THE MOTOR DECLINED, LOSS OF POWER AND EXCESSIVE ENGINE NOISE. WHEN STATIONARY UPON INSPECTION BOTH HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMPS THAT RESIDE IN THE REAR TOP OF THE VALVE COVERS SHOWED SIGNS OF LEAKING GASOLINE AND OIL. THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS SO BAD THAT THE CHANCE OF IGNITING WAS IMMINENT, AS IT LEAKED ONTO THE EXHAUST BELOW AND CAME IN CONTACT WITH AN O2 SENSOR DIRECTLY BELOW ON THE ENGINE BLOCK, THAT HAS AN ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR. MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 170K MILES. AT 85K MILES THE RECALL #10V30900 (VALVE SPRINGS) WAS PERFORMED. UPON INVESTIGATION THIS RECALL WAS INCOMPLETE AS IT DID NOT INCLUDE A SERVICEABLE PART GASKET #2322438010 THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE "VALVE SPRING KIT"#0400037338. THIS GASKET IS ALWAYS REPLACED WHEN THE FUEL PUMPS ARE REMOVED. IT RESIDES IN THE VALVE COVER UNDER THE REMOVABLE FUEL PUMP PLATE. ALL OTHER SERVICEABLE GASKETS IN THE FUEL PUMP WERE INCLUDED: 2 O-RINGS FOR MOUNT BOLTS, 2 RING GASKETS FOR FUEL DAMPENER, 1PUMP TO PLATE GASKET BUT NOT THE PLATE TO VALVE COVER GADKET. THIS IS A KNOWN LEAKING PROBLEM FOR 2007-2008 LS460 (YEARS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL), MOST COMMONLY SEEN AS OIL LEAKS AT THE VALVE COVER BUT MINE AND OTHERS SHOW DEGRADATION TO WHERE GAS LEAKS FROM THE PUMP TO PLATE GASKET AS WELL. THE POSSIBILITY OF A SEVERELY DETERIATED GASKET AT THE VALVE COVER #2322438010 HAS THE POSSIBILITY OF PIECES FALLING INTO THE MOVEABLE PARTS AREA THAT WERE THE REASON FOR THE RECALL. THIS NON REPLACED GASKET SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND IT HAS CREATED A FIRE HAZARD. I CURRENTLY SHOW DTC P0455, P0441, P0455, P0441. THE P0012 VSC ERROR HAS RESOLVED RECENTLY AFTER CLEARING THE MEMORY.
A WARNING LIGHT INDICATED URGENT - TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THE LEXUS DEALER - WE TOOK IT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER - SAID AIRBAG PROBLEM) CHARGED US $175. AND SAID IT HAD TO GO TO THE LEXUS DEALER SO WE TOOK IT TO SANTA BARBARA 75 MILES AWAY - THEY CHARGED ANOTHER $75. TO SAY REPAIR BILL FOR AIR BAG WAS OVER $7,000. (OUR LEXUS 460 HAS ONLY 145,000 MILES ON IT).
THE DASH BOARD AND DOOR PANELS STICKY AND CRACKING
THE DASHBOARD AND SIDE TRIM ON THE DOOR HAS BECOME STICKY CAUSING GLARE IN THE WINDSHIELD WHICH MAKES DRIVING HAZARDOUS AS DIFFICULT TO SEE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD WHILE DRIVING. OUR 2007 LEXUS LS460 HAS ONLY 23,000 MILES ON IT AS IT HAS BEEN GARAGED MOST OF THE TIME WE HAVE OWNED IT. LEXUS WILL NOT PROCESS A RECALL TO COVER THIS ISSUE. LEGALLY THEY HAVE A 'DUTY OF CARE' WITH THE MANUFACTURING OF THIS VEHICLE WHICH THEY ARE REFUSING TO MEET.
I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CORPORATE LEXUS ABOUT THE NOTORIOUS 'BRAKE ACTUATOR ' ISSUE. THERE WAS A RECALL CAMPAIGN 150K MILES OR 10 YEARS FROM MANUFACTURE BUILD DATE. WHAT I AM HAVING IS NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKE ACTUATOR WHEN THE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. THIS ISSUE WILL ONLY LEAD UP TO THE BRAKE ACTUATOR FAILING AND CAUSING A CATASROPHIC ACCIDENT. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 88K MILES. DEALERSHIP AND CORPORATE KNOWS OF THE ISSUE AND WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT. THERE IS A REASON WHY THEY HAD THIS EXTENDED CAMPAIGN BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATORS IN THESE VEHICLES ARE FAULTY. NOT ONLY ON THIS MODEL BUT OTHER MODELS AND MOST RECENTLY NEWER VEHICLES MADE BY LEXUS ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AND ARE BEING CALLED IN TO HAVE THE BRAKE ACTUATOR FIXED. THE CONTROL ARMS ON THIS VEHICLE IS ALSO ANOTHER ISSUE BUT I DONT MIND FORKING THE BILL ON THAT BECAUSE IT IS A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM. THE NOISE OF MY BRAKE ACTUATOR WILL GRUNT ON THE HIGHWAY STREETS AND WHILE PARKED. AS A LIFE LONG LEXUS CONSUMER I AM EXTREMLY BOTHERED THAT THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS SAFETY. MIND YOU THE REPAIR IS ROUGHLY $5000 REDICULOUS THAT CUSTOMERS HAVE TO FORK OUT THE MONEY ON A VEHICLE THEY CALL THEIR FLAGSHIP. IT IS NOT A MATTER OF 'IF' IT WILL FAIL BUT 'WHEN'. CONAIDERING THE AMOUNT OF VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS I AM VERY SURPRISED THERES NO ACTUAL 'RECALL' FOR THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE. THE NUMBER IS IN THE THOUSANDS. HIGHLY DISSAPOINTED IN LEXUS AS THEY ARE WILLING TO SACRAFICE THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS OVER A FAULTY PART THE CAR WAS MANUFACTURED WITH. ALSO SUPPOSEDLY THEY SENT OUT LETTERS FOR THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT BUT I NEVER RECEIVED ONE OR A PHONE CALL STATING THAT OWNERS WERE ABLE TO BRING IN THEIR VEHICLE TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. I HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT WAS OVER AND THEY SAID IF THERE IS NO LIGHT THEY WONT HONOR IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LEXUS LS460. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JIM HUDSON LEXUS OF COLUMBIA DEALER, (328 KILLIAN RD, COLUMBIA, SC 29203) AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,800.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
