2007 Lexus LS460 Body & structure Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the body or structure system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Body & structure reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

A FEW MONTHS AGO I STARTED NOTICING THAT THE DASHBOARD OF MY CAR WAS GETTING SHINY. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST SOME SUBSTANCE THAT I COULD WIPE OFF BUT FOUND IT WAS VERY STICKY AND DETERIORATING. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THIS WEEK THE REFLECTION WAS BAD ENOUGH TO CAUSE A DISTRACTION, ENOUGH THAT AS SOON AS I GOT HOME I SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR WHAT I COULD DO TO FIX IT. I THOUGHT MINE WAS AN ISOLATED CASE BUT FOUND SEVERAL ARTICLES INDICATING THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY OTHERS AS WELL. WHILE I PERSONALLY DON'T EXPECT THE MANUFACTURER TO SHOULDER 100% OF THE BURDEN FOR THE REPAIR, I DID WANT TO REGISTER MY CASE AS IT SEEMED THAT THE MANUFACTURERS WERE NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THIS AS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE HOPES THAT THEY WOULD AGREE TO A FORMULA TO ADDRESS THE COST RATHER THAN EVERYONE HAVING TO NEGOTIATE THE SHARE OF COST INDIVIDUALLY. *TR

THE DASH BOARD SURFACE HAS BECOME GUMMY AND THE REFLECTION OF THE SHINY, GUMMY SURFACE ON THE WINDSHIELD VERY FREQUENTLY AFFECTS THE VISIBILITY AND IMPAIRS MY CAPACITY TO SEE SAFELY, SPECIALLY ON VERY SUNNY DAYS. THERE HAS NOT BEEN AN INCIDENT YET, BUT I WANTED TO REPORT THIS BECAUSE I AM AFRAID OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER OF AN ACCIDENT DUE TO IMPAIRED VISIBILITY. I BEGAN NOTICING THE DASHBOARD'S SURFACE DETERIORATION ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO, WHEN THE WARRANTY HAD ALREADY EXPIRED. *JS
